This is fr0d0 we are talking about. Do you really expect him to follow through without simply going round in circles and avoiding the question?

Very open minded Adrian.

Of course the ideas on Christianity being about not thinking etc are wishful. A banal put down. All the Christians I know are quite the opposite, very considerate of their belief/s. In my life, the way atheists are described in that story resembles Christians, and the Borg atheists. People on this forum almost say as much: they'd be happy if Christianity no longer existed, they seek to convert, they repeat mindless rhetoric thoughtlessly.

PS Adrian: Because you don't fucking understand doesn't mean you have the right to belittle me. k?

RE: Fun read.
In your experiances you view the christians as the ones who are minding their own buisness and the Atheists are the borg-like creatures out to assimulate all? Ok, you have your opinion, nothing wrong with that.

But why did you choose to label it "ignorant"?

Also what is it you claim is being repeated here as "thoughtless mindless rhetoric"? Also I haven't seen any attempts at converting anyone. Simply stating facts, demanding evidence and applying reason to extraordinary claims does not qualify as seeking to convert.

Maybe I don't know frOdO as well as you , Adrian. Maybe I will soon, here in this thread.

Please excuse me if this has been asked before, but before I can know where you are coming from, fr0d0, I must ask;

Have you always been afraid of the monsters under your bed (satan, hellfire etc.) and employed supernatural-magical means (prayer, belief in a 'savior', christain icons etc.) to keep them at bay? Or have you actually looked under there yourself? Do you possess any evidence for the existance of these supernatural creatures you claim exists?
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Explain why 99.9% of the people who reject evolution are religious. It is not wishful or a banal put down, it is a fact. Religions destroy the ability to think outside the box.

Yet none of the ones who seem to come here (new company excluded...for now) show this at all,

Well of course we say we'd be happy if religion no longer existed. It would mean that we'd have more people to talk to on our own level. I'd personally prefer to see every liberal and conservative gone and replaced with Libertarians, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go around mindlessly converting people. I will state my opinion and let them consider it. I don't go round door to door telling people there is no god. Instead I organise lectures and meetings where anyone is welcome to join if they want to. This is very different from forcing a view on somebody.

Your phrase about repeating mindless rhetoric thoughtlessly reminds me of someone...(clue: His username begins with f and has two 0's in it)

Very sorry, should have made this more clear. I didn't belittle you because I didn't understand. I belittled you because you have a history of dodging questions and creating circular reasoning.
