Santorum is a Terrible Human Being

Santorum is a Terrible Human Being
Oh.
I...
Wow.

Santorum...
Santorum believes that Obama's belief that "every child in America should go to college" is "hubris" and "snobbery" on the part of the president.

This man is running for President of the United States of America.
Let all this sink in for a moment.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

He does have a slight point if you read the entire article:

Quote:I have seven kids. Maybe they'll all go to college. But if one of my kids wants to go and be an auto mechanic, good for him, that's a good paying job, using your hands, using your mind.

If every child in America went to college, you'd have an overqualified population in a few generations time; the job market would shrink, and more people would be reduced to poverty paying off student loans because they can't get a job in whatever major they did at college. Not to mention, those same students would have to spend time and money retraining in whatever low-paid job they had to take to make ends meet.

College isn't for everyone. College isn't for the elite. College is for the academic among us who wish to invest in the skills we have and develop them so we can start helping society where we are needed.

Not to worry though; there are plenty more reasons why Santorum is a terrible human being.

Edit: Like this for example.

As, skeptics on a atheist forum, you and I have seen this arguement over and over again - it's a strawman - pure and simple and it allows the opposition (Santorum) to make an easy and agreeable point against it.

Creationists who don't understand things like evolution and big bang and abiogenesis do this all the time to us and the "experts" who do specialize in those fields.

The article states this about Obama:

CNN Politics Wrote:Obama has repeatedly said he wants the United States to have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020. Earlier this year, while announcing plans to reform "No Child Left Behind," Obama also said he intends for every student to graduate "career and college ready."

He's not forcing every child in America to have Ph.Ds in the higher-paying fields, but he does want every child to graduate 'career and college-ready", which to me sounds like he's aiming to improve the K-12 schools as well as make college more accessable.
He wants there to be more (as opposed to 100%) college graduates by 2020 - the most in the world in about 8 years.

If they can couple that with improved access to government and private business loans, then the good can easily outweight the bad here.

I'm not saying you're 100% wrong, but I am saying that improvements to education is badly needed and Obama's intention isn't going to necessarily make things worse.

On your other santorum point though, I'm honestly surprised it wasn't Rich Perry being more corrupt, but then again, I'm surprised by few things anymore.
I'm just counting down the minutes until Santorum is caught with a gay and possibly underaged lover.

Santorum belongs to that peculiar bunch of republican fuckheads who think that only the rich should prosper and advance.

Oh - that seems to be all of them.

Yeah Min, I'd say that I remember a time when the republicans actually stood for something and the crazies were kept at the fringe, but then I'd be lying because I haven't been alive that long (1983).

That was a time when Isenhower or Ronald Reagan could be elected as republicans.
Nowadays, that's Rick Fucking Santorum - Mr. "Assjuice" himself.

If republicans are still pining for another Rondald Reagan, then Democrats should be asking for another Franklin Delenor Roosevelt. We need another guy like him - we liked him so much that we elected him president four times.
I'd be even happier with another Andrew Jackson also. I lke the cut of his jib.

I'd settle for Bill Clinton.

Hell...I'd blow him myself if he would forgive us and come back.
