Just to interject a little logic here, you can be against some abortions and not be "encouraging billions of new humans to be born . . . " Furthermore, giving women financial incentive to have abortions only makes the problem worse. To be okay with abortion to the point where you want to pay people to abort their kids is a little fucked. While I am pro-choice, I completely see other alternatives to abortion and prefer them. Abortion is just as much of a health risk as pregnancy. We should be providing incentives for people to be on birth control. Yes, people, not women.

I reject all moral objectivism too, but I realised a while ago that if we are going to put up with moral subjectivism (as we try to), then we have to be consistent. If we protect the right to life of murderers and abolish the death penalty, then we should abolish it for innocent humans who are genetically no different to you or I.
I'm with you on social planning; all the way. However, I'd prefer that we encourage people to practice safe sex rather than give them money to go and have their children killed. The root of the problem isn't solved with abortion. RE: More Ron Bashing

So you are opposed to abortion on all grounds, since the baby is ALWAYS innocent in every case of abortion. So you are 100% opposed to any abortion even in case of rape and incest... ...or are THOSE babies less innocent than other unborn babies? If you ever read ethical philosophy, it says that abortion and murder of any kind is immoral. The exception may lie in some existentilism but even that would be fringe. This is common sense. Yet although I along with MILLIONS of other human beings know that abortion is not exactly a "saintly" action by any means, I still think that it should be legal and women should still have a choice. That's all I was saying. I could say the same thing for drug use, it CAN be generally immoral when done EXCESSIVELY, but I think all drugs should be legalized as they are in the Netherlands. The job of the government is not to be the "Karma Police" as Radiohead would say or moral enforcers. People should be able to choose whatever they want to do... within reason. Are you claiming to be a Buddha?

At any rate, I am familiar with the "effort" of becoming a Buddha. I don't believe it, of course. I like to imagine that I am a Buddha, but I know it's an ego thing. Realistically I am too immoral and unfocused to currently be a buddha, although I do have some characteristics that shine through on occasion. I dabble with the religion, I am not a monk. I honor science and logic of course, yet the right hemisphere of my brain seeks mysticism. What do you believe in for self improvement?

Logic, kindness, etc.
Loving people who deserve it, especially. I don't actively try to improve myself, but these things make me feel better.
