James Randi's next grand debunking

James Randi's next grand debunking
James Randi's next grand debunking is "an Ocean’s Eleven-type team for a carefully orchestrated exposure of a fraudulent religious organization."

Sounds pretty great, no? Check out the Work-In-Progress trailer below and then head to AnHonestLiar.com for more info and to donate to the production.

I can't wait.I wonder if he will have a go at at Scientology; those bastards play dirty.

The tragedy is that many believers will simply ignore him.

We have members here who persist with their loopy literalist beliefs. They simply ignore any and all evidence which threatens their dependent little lives.

The attitude is like that of Don Lane, a third rate American entertainer who was a big star on TV here. Don was very gullible and believed all that shit.So along comes James Randi and debunks DORIS STOKES;

The whole clip is worth watching.

I hope Randi lives for another 30 years. Very pleased that I got to meet him a couple of years ago:

The great man himself recently shared this with his FB followers:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

That's a great quote, Stim. Certainly sums up every god-fearing shithead we have around here.

What a great guy. I had never heard of Randi but will watch out for more.

With all due respect to Derren Brown, Derren seems to owe Randi a lot. If you have not heard of Derren Brown, you really should check him out, starting with his programme called 'Messiah'. Amongst other psychic debunking, he 'converts' atheists into Christians with a touch of his hand. Well worth watching!

However Derren's trick works, it might be the same trick that religious leaders have been doing for centuries - so the more publicity the better.

It may not work in all countries but here is a link - http://www.channel4.com/programmes/derre...od#2921957

The 'Christian' bit does not occur until about 2/3 of the way through but the rest is interesting anyway if you have the time to watch it.

I'm also a member on the James Randi Educational Forum, a skeptic's site. I admit I tend to hover over the religion and philosophy subforum, but there are good subforums on conspiracy theories and the paranormal, too.

In defense of a recent debunking of another Faith healer/con artist, a faith healer/con artist will give people a song and dance about how their the real thing. Yeah, those other guys might have been crooks but I'm the real deal see. Translation "I've got the real magic, the other guy was just a phony, trust me."

Sometimes the same con artist can fool the same people multiple times. Case in point: several decades ago the pastor of this church http://www.godsark.org/who was an excellent con artist (so I've been told by numerous people) went on a fundraising campaign to earn money to build Noah's Ark in Western Maryland. When he made enough money he ran off with it. A while later, after he had spent the money, he came back, was forgiven and went on his second campaign to raise money to build the ark. This happened several decades ago and the ark still hasn't been finished. Follow the link I posted to see the progress.
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise
