Homepage Banners
Hey all,

I was just looking at the site and since the banner was edited to become this;

It is considered bad form to post a link or other self promotion as a first post. If you are new here, please first introduce yourself in the Introductions forum.

with all the red and black bold font and such, it just seems a bit garish and unneccesary. Any chnace we can go back to the simple uniform smaller bold font it was previously?

Cheers

Sam

RE: Homepage Banners
I'll leave the red bits in because they make the message stand out (the important bits) and we want people to see it, but I have reduced the size of it.

The reason I placed it there was to discourage the people who seem to register and only post a link to their site, or to advertise something. The same line appears when trying to register, so if people ignore it we will simply delete their post without warning (as they have already been warned).

This makes it easier for the staff, who in the past had to contact the individual and tell them not to do it, or had to remove links in posts etc. We want to send a message that this isn't a forum where you can simply join and expect to advertise straight away. If you introduce yourself and become a part of the forums, then we are glad to have you post links to your own articles (heck, you can post a link to your article in your introductions post if you wish), but otherwise we will treat the link as spam.

Have it worked?
