Most of my friends know how badly it makes me suffer and are careful about where the wind is blowing or where we go or where I'm sitting, etc.

Since nobody has mentioned it, there is an initiative in Washington, a state near me, to treat weed like alchohol.

I think if it passed that would tip the first domino to policy change. In Oregon, my state, Oregon Medical Marijuana Association (OMMA) cards are so easy to get that most people who are into smoking either have a card and grow their own or are supplied by people who have their own card. In California there are so many dispensaries that people can find it anywhere and it is also easy to get a doctor's note to smoke. It shouldn't be long now... although, I have been saying that for over ten years now...

On the other hand, there is a shitload of money in marijuana as long as it's illegal (it's chump change comparatively if it were de-criminalized). I'd like to think that our own officals aren't somehow party to this revenue stream, but most big businesses stream of revenue involves a politican somewhere along the lines. If I were Jefe down on one of Mexico's cartels I'd be filtering money to the harshest anti-drug candidates available. These people aren't just thugs with guns, they're also extremely competent businessmen.
