Visualizing our Traffic

Back in January 2009, I started collecting Google Analytics data from visitors who had JavaScript enabled. The data is mostly for my own interest, but in case any of you are interested, I have set up a public profile which displays data from the last 30 days.

It can't display it all (nor would you want it to, since Google Analytics captures massive amounts of data), but what it does show are:

- Visits: the number of times people have started browsing the site.
- Pageviews: the total number of pages people have visited (different to "hits").
- Absolute Unique Visitors: the number of unique IP Addresses that visited.
- Unique Pageviews - the total number of unique pageviews (i.e. it doesn't count the same person reloading / revisiting the same page)
- Visits by Browser: The number of visits, sorted into the different browsers that were used.
- Visits by Keywords: The keywords that were used to get to the site via search engines.

Yup, the two large drops are where the server crashed (April 2011), and where we moved server a few day ago. Since the DNS resolved pretty quickly, the forums weren't inaccessible for very long, hence why it didn't go all the way to 0.

No idea about the actual spikes in activity. I will look into it though Big Grin
