Gas Prices and the Repubs

Of course the Repubs want gas prices to go sky high this summer so that people will vote for Romney. Or, not actually voting for Romney, but voting against Obama. They're desperate because they know their candidates suck, and they have little chance of winning the presidency.

I love the way that they have dressed up this issue as though this is what's wrong with the economy. Not the dissappearing middle class. Not the vast majority of wealth becoming ever more concentrated in the hands of a few. Not the trickle down Reaganomics and tax cuts for the ultra rich. Nope. Gas prices. and drilling is going to solve that how? When the US uses 20% of the worlds oil and sits on only 2% of its reserves? Confused Fall

Wait until tomorrow when the republicunts release their budget and health care plan.

They won't call it the "How to Make the Rich Richer and Fuck Everyone Else" Act... but they should.

Yup, here it is. Reaganomics back in action. Tax breaks for the rich and a cut of the social safety net via Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, etc... How is this going to re-establish the middle class? Oh yeah. It's NOT!

The problem with these nutjobs is that they think that if they ban abortion, gay marriage, contraceptives, and porn, then God will swoop down, see how righteous we all are, and magically fix the economy.

They claim that the solution is the Keystone pipeline and drilling the nation's oil reserves. They argue that this has been a drain on the economy. This is essentially the same thing that Republicans have been saying for the last 30 years.

Obama has proposed that we need to reduce our reliance on foreign oil, especially those notoriously unstable Middle Eastern countries where much of the world's oil originates, and explore alternative energy sources. He has also argued for reducing the influence that Wall Street speculators have in driving up oil prices.

What are your thoughts on rising gas prices and the solution to this ongoing debate? Are you for drilling the US's oil reserves?

Gas prices are decided on a global market. Drilling for new gas here in america would not do a damn thing to the price of Gas here in america.

Now THAT would be the invisible hand of the marketplace. What would we call it? Shinedown economics? Gracenomics?

Really, do something right for the first time in your history, please. Bring peace to Afghanistan, do not pull out until your work is done.

Well considering that ten years later things are just as messed up over ther as they ever were I see no reason to prolong this quagmire. Also Obama inherited this mess from dubya and his hawk buddies. Not to mention that there may be not one but two military actions in the same region depending how things play out with Israel and Syria. Related to gas prices further instability will only drive them up further.
Obama is merely a person. It doesn't matter whom he inherited anything, it is your country which is involved in these, not politicians.

This is a little bit of a red herring in that my point is that the Republicans have essentially expressed support for at least two further military actions. There is an exit strategy in place which calls for troops to be out by 2013. I don't see how us sticking around is going to help anyone, especially since support for the US led occupation is at an all time low. The Republicans essentially want to cut Medicaid, Medicare, safety net type programs and simultanaously cut taxes for the rich while increasing military spending by billions. Then to boot they are gung ho about two new military actions that will no doubt further destabilize the middle east and drive up gas prices even further. This is all good for the economy how?

It is "good" for the rich cocksuckers who determine republicunt policy. They throw the religious right a few bones about abortion and contraception to make them happy to be fucked over by the rich.

Its been going on for ages and the dumb xtian fucks haven't caught on yet.

Then again, those assholes are still waiting for fucking jesus to come back, too.
