No more than anyone willing to read up on theology and philosophy. Do you seriously think we're atheist because we read the God Delusion, anymore than you're christian because you read Christian Theology: An Introduction.

Nice try at diversion thou.

Of course not, I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy involved when people take the position of "we studied the sciences that shows us there is no God because theres no evidence" The question of Gods existance is a philosophical/theological question, studying biology gives no authority to speak on philosophical issues.

ROFLOL What utter rubbish! Have you ever heard of Alister McGrath?

First of all, I wasn't entirely serious, hence the smiley face dude. Secondly, I am familiar with him, it is a shame that such a smart guy devotes so much time to utter nonsense. Although, from interviews I have seen he does seem like a decent guy.

Well anyone with an ounce of intelligence perhaps would pause for thought and think about that? Would such an intelligent guy really devote his time to nonsense? Doesn't something not fit in that equation? Either 1.He isn't really intelligent or 2.Perhaps it shouldn't so quickly be dismissed as nonsense, doing so would be rather unintelligent I would have thought Thinking

The question of god's existence does become a biological/scientific issue once you invoke god as an explanation in biology/science. If someone tried to claim that 1+1=2 because god made it so - then it would be a mathematical issue as well, subject to the standard of inquiry of that subject. You brought him into the subject - don't run away now.

And theology gives no authority to speak on scientific issues. However, they do, on a regular basis. Far more prevalent in the US, since we tend not to stand for it so much in the UK.

We can more or less agree on this issue, so untwist your knickers.
This thread is about evolution cancelling out creationism, and while evolution and geology, and chemistry, and physics cancels out the young earth, apologetics can sit happily on a cloud pretending God started science and is purely metaphysical, and the bible is allegory instead.

Keep your mind on the focus of the thread.

Theology stays out of science, and science can stay out of theology.

Although I will credit Dawkins on an aphorism which was meant with the greatest of respect, that a philosopher is someone who won't take common sense for an answer.

Out of interest, what is your view on evolution in the orthodox church, I confess ignorance on that.
Self-authenticating private evidence is useless, because it is indistinguishable from the illusion of it. ― Kel, Kelosophy Blog

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?
The f**king janitor or the dude who runs the waterslide. Throughout history every mystery. Ever solved has turned out to be. Not Magic.

Or 3. While generally intelligent, he made an error in that line of reasoning.
or 4. He's having a laugh.
or 5. He's making money off selling this nonsense to other fools.
or 6. He's working towards some hidden purpose and putting out this nonsense is a part of it.

Need I go on?

Why would theists question Mr Dawkins about god??

I love that type of thinking, what your effectively proposing in order that you don't have to acually think about it, is that all intelligent people who believe in God are delusional, does that really sound like a good argument to you? seriously?

I can think about it all I want, but that doesn't mean I have to explain anything to you. I'm not someone who really enjoys religious debate so I don't get into it much, but when religious people start talking about evolution and science I can't help but get a bit involved.

I come here for some fun and to talk to friend, I owe you nothing.
