Most religious people tend to have the wrong idea and their own dogma's about atheists anyway to be fair. Those that don't won't really pay much attention to such a thing I imagine.

Yeah, it doesn't really matter what we call it. They will still think of atheism as just another religion. I don't really give a fuck what they think about our lack of belief. At any rate, the name has served for a long time now and we have had no problems with it of which I am aware.

If any theist really thinks that atheism is just another religion, there is no hope for them, and thus it's not worth worrying about what they might think.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
