Didn't read the thread but when species are wiped out by deforestation I'd consider that unnatural selection.

Say what you will, he didn't give a favorable review to a Christian site and did give a favorable review to The Thinking Atheist site, so it was us personally and not just a hate-on for any atheist site, period.

No, but I wouldn't consider an entire forest being cut down natural.

I've got to admit I found that funny. It's so absurd it caught me off guard - it's like asking someone what one plus one is and having them scream back "TAXI!" The only response that can preserve one's sanity in such a moment is laughter. Maniacal, unbridled laughter.

People like cuddly animals. Was some other reason required? Has nothing to do with evolution, (which isn't a belief, or a worldview, or a faith, etc etc etc). There isn't anything contradictory or illogical about whether or not a given person likes and/or feels empathy. How much time did you spend forming this little "argument" and is it anti-conservation or anti-evolution (or anti-"people have feelings")? Sometimes it isn't a cuddly feeling, but an attempt to protect a cornerstone species. You see, this place doesn't give a shit about us (or anything else on it), doesn't even know we're here. Every now and again we find out that we rely on species we hadn't given much thought to until they were gone/dangerously scarce. Sometimes we're the extinction event itself.

Let's turn the tbles. Why would a christian care to save a species? This place was created for us, was it not? We were granted dominion were we not? We rely on nothing but god for our survival do we not? God could create more animals on a whim could he not? Hasn't god drowned every living thing (save two) on earth at least once? The animals are a part of his great plan, yes? Can we throw a monkeywrench in the plans of a god? Etc..etc..etc.

There's a really easy practical answer though. Biological diversity is useful, to us.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
