If the banner were about apophenia, I wouldn't mind. I don't think that is what the banner is trying to convey though. In my mind, constellations will always scream "Astrology!!!" to me. I'm sure this is the same for many skeptics, but perhaps I'm wrong. I just think if we are going to focus on human interest in space, we should do it in such a way that it cannot be linked back to pseudoscience (or general nonsense).

In any case, I thought the idea was the have different banners. We already have one featuring the Earth and Moon (i.e. space related), so why not go with something a bit different? The background of stars can be used effectively for anything, or hell, I could even try to wangle it so the background changed as well if you wish.

Actually, if you look closely at the original you'll notice that the arrangement of God's robe, cherubs, etc. are actually a cross section of the brain case complete with brain stem. It's one of those hidden meanings, Michaelangello's humanism coming out.

How many of you like this idea?

Due to the recent changes in the site banner (please scroll up if you haven't noticed) some of you may have changed your opinion about the possibility of an occasionally changing banner.

I was specifically wondering if any of you would be interested in only seasonal or holiday banners. Specifically, heathen holidays for a little more customized non-believer fun.

This is not an official staff posting about future design intent. I am merely curious if any of our esteemed members would mind if the banner changed perhaps three to five times per year.



If you would like to simply vote this proposal up without much ado. Just kudos this post and I'll present this to the staff.

I like you work, all the posts I have seen about your work are positive, do whatever you want by me if it stays the same for a thousand years, or changes multiple times a day, if you want to make the images I am sure they will be good.

I had not seen or remembered seeing the current banner before. So when the Halloween banner came down, my thought was, "Whoah, a new banner. I like it. This new banner is cool as fuck."

Whether that helps you with your question or anything else that's been said, I have no idea.
