Do you agree with Richard Dawkins?
RE: Do you agree with Richard Dawkins?
Yikes! We got a real raging vegan up here! Yes, I am an immoral meat eater Hungry, bite me Big Grin (see what I did there?)

Now, Jinkies, why don't you please introduce yourself in the Intro's forum, its not very polite to jump in someone else's pond and start preaching left and right. I mean, you don't really need to, but it would give a decent measurement of your intentions.

Its not even as if its healthy in the long-term. I tried being a vegitarian for two months and ended up looking even more pale and gaunt than usual and thats a feat in itself. I also felt constantly exhausted, the vitamin pills didn't help that much.

I mean I kind of think vegitarianism is the most morale way to go about things but I don't think its been perfected enough to give it a decent chance.
You ever tried quorn or tofu? Yuck.

Do *not* get veganism.

Ah, morality. If YOU enjoy eating meat, eat the fucking meat. Big Grin
If you enjoy eating veggies, soy, dirt, mayonaise or even band-aids, EAT THAT SHIT!

It's not really vegan rage, it's just anti-idiocy rage. Keep doing what you're doing. Just don't say moronic things about it.

Preaching? I admittedly haven't been to a church in 25 years or so, but I'm pretty sure they don't spend their time point out irrational and illogical absurdities spewed on the Internet. It'd be nice, though. It should be obvious that my intentions in my previous post were to point out how terrible some of the arguments presented here are and to hopefully get some people to critically examine their arguments to make sure they're reasonable in the slightest.

I don't think that killing animals for food is immoral, because of the simple fact that we need food to survive. Have you seen how malnourished most vegans are? Some have to take suppliments to give their bodies the proper nutrients they need because they don't get them from the food they eat. I eat what tastes good to me. Now, it just so happens that I do not enjoy the taste of beef, so I don't consume it too often. But I've also no moral compass suggesting it's bad for me to do so. Vegans remind me much of christians, within the terms that they try to throw their shit in everybody's faces, telling everyone how wrong they are for doing what feels right to them. Thankfully, most people know that ANYTHING IN EXCESS can be damaging to the body, whether it be meat or a million other things. Come off it.

If anecdotes from ignorant and incompetent people were good enough arguments to convince me, I'm pretty sure I'd belong to dozens of religions right now and be chugging down homeopathic "medicine." Good thing they're not.

Seriously, claiming that vegetarianism isn't healthy is blatantly factually incorrect. Any diet can be bad if you eat like a moron. Try not to do that and you'll be okay.

What do you mean about vegetarianism not being perfected? That statement seriously makes no sense in any way. What would perfected vegetarianism look like?

Seriously, guys, at least try to learn a little bit about the basics of human nutrition. I get that they don't teach it in school. That sucks, but there's not much we can do about it.

"It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases."

I make no claims about disease prevention, but you're not missing anything required by the human body by being veg*an. Just don't eat only chips and Oreos, then say "veganism doesn't work."

Good news! You don't have to eat quorn or tofu! I know, it seems crazy, but that's totally how it works.

I don't know a single person who's tried well prepared tofu and didn't like it, though. Tofu by itself barely has any taste, but it picks up flavors really well. It can also have a huge variety of textures depending on how it's make and prepared. Try the tofu at a good Chinese place before writing it off completely. The vast majority of people who eat tofu aren't veg*an.

The texture of tofu fucks with my mouth. I've only eaten it in soup though, so the consistency was because of the broth. I just disagree that this has to come down to a moral standpoint. I use almond milk, not because I think it's wrong that the cows' teats were squeezed against their will, but because milk tastes fucking disgusting.

Tofu tastes great. Better to go with legumes and whole grain for protein than soy specifically though (if you're looking to go vegan). I like to think of soy as bacon bits in a salad..hehehehe.
