There is a lot to reply to here and Ill try to cover all of it in this one post. To no more faith. That story is merely an illiustration of how its possible to overlook an act of god simply because it comes in the form of ordinary everyday people. if you can add to the story that he sticks his middle fingers up at everybody else, then i can scratch out your ending to the story and add my own. So he already saved all the other flood victims and that was the last guy on the roofBig Grin In my belief all good things come from God, this includes all cures for diseases and sickness. I know it may seem like a generic answer but we live in a broken world.. a world that we broke. we as in mankind. This is the reason for sickness, natural disasters nazi death camps terrorist attacks and the black plague. It would be nice to have a cure for HIV, muscular dystrophy and everything you listed. I happend to lose my brother to MD so yeah, it would have been nice to already have had the cure for it but as ive already said in my other post as well, this world and this life are not the end. The spirit of man is eternal. In the grand scheme of things the time we had on this earth will be nothing when compared to a billion years later.

to thor... actually yes i can prove that God heals man when man cannot heal himself. Go to pubmed.gov and there are many case studies of just that. Where medicine failed and for some "unexplainable" reason the person in question recovered.

Stimbo.. yes sometimes, especially studies where there have been two groups where one was prayed over to achieve a specific result it is barely indistinguishable from blind chance. Sometimes the one looking at it wants to be skeptical and nothing will suffice.
I will go ahead and say right now, no matter how much anybody prays, ozzy the dog will not ever turn into a naked chick. thats just not how it works. ozzy osbourne did dress up like a chick and piss on the alamo is that good enough?ROFLOL And as far as going up to a doctor and telling him the experiance he has gained as a result of years of training and dedication were for nothing.. of course I wouldnt do that. Im not a disrespectful person. He aquired his skills because of hard work and many many hours of study. Then why do i say its a gift from God then? Because larry the bum down on 5th street couldnt be a doctor if he tried. why not? because he isnt "gifted" in that way. larry the bum however, is here for a reason and has his own "gifts" Peace.

So, tell me, why won't god heal amputees?

genkaus, God did heal an amputee, when the roman authority came to arrest Jesus one of his disciples (not sure which one) drew his sword and lopped of one of the guards ears. Jesus picked the ear up off the ground and re attached it to the mans head. Thats when the infamous "live by the sword, die by the sword" was first uttered. all the people present witnessed this and it was recorded. testimony was given and we know about it today. That probably wont meet the requirements for you to be satisfied with it but that is God healing an amputee in the most literal sense. Now if sombody gets their arm chewed off by a great white they wont grow another arm back. that is because its the way the human body was designed. We have limited regeneration ability. Some people that have an arm amputated have it reattached that probably wont count either. Even though they have been restored to full use of their arm. Other species do grow body parts back because it IS how they were designed. Did you mean human amputees or amputees in general? If you just meant human amputees strike my last comment from the record please. peace.
Islam has killed millions in the last decade, lets focus all attention on Christianity!

I remember hearing about a guy who leaped a tall building in a single bound. It was witnessed by huge crowds of people in that particular city, including reporters for the local newspaper. That's when the phrase "it's a bird - it's a 'plane" was first uttered.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Quote:when the roman authority came to arrest Jesus one of his disciples

Quote:Matthew 26:47-56

New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Arrested
47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people.

Quote: 43And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

44And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

45And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

46And they laid their hands on him, and took him.

47And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

Mark 14

Quote:52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him,

Luke 22

Not a "Roman" in the lot. that little bit of horseshit is left to the absurd gospel of John....which has an entire fucking cohort going to arrest one rabble-rouser!

Must be another one of those "contradictions" that you people can't keep straight.

Can we be a little more realistic for a moment? What proof do you have that someone mysitcally reattached an ear? And when I say proof, I mean something recent, and from something other than a supersitious story book. We don't "heal" ourselves; I can tell you now that doctors would be out of business if we could. Supernatural beings don't cause hurricanes because of homosexual activity. People don't rise from the dead. If something happens, it isn't because of a spirits' will or a demon out to get you. Maybe the idea of someone watching your back so you don't feel burdens is nice, or to think we'll see loved ones again, but that doesn't make it real.

Sometimes I wonder if we're metaphorically beating our heads against a brick wall, when it comes to people that use no common sense.

Can you give an example from real life and not a fictional story from your collection of fables?

So apparently, when it comes to growing back arms, your god is powerless to do it. Completely useless in face of biology.

Oh, my. Yes, sometimes people recover and doctors have no explanation. Spontaneous remission is well known in medical circles. However, an unexplained recovery is just that.... UNEXPLAINED! Unexplained does not equal "miracle" or "god".

Do you have any occasions where a paralyzed person had people pray over him and the person then got up and walked?

I didn't think so.
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

Maybe what we need, instead of more moderators, is an Assignment Clerk. When a new shithead shows up spouting god drivel the Assignment Clerk could pick one of us rational people from a roster to exclusively deal with him/her. Sort of like a reverse mentor. That would certainly break up the workload.

What do you say, Divine Tiberius?
