Sh2-254 thru Sh2-258 Nebula Complex in Orion

This nebula complex of compact HII regions and active star formations is located in the club of Orion on the Orion/Gemini border

Image was taken on January 4, 2011, and is only four five-minute exposures at ISO 800. Guiding wasn't all that good. I plan to take a much longer exposure of these objects next winter.
Very nice, Poetess.

I certainly enjoy it, but am very much an amateur.

Very nice photos, both of you. I haven't done too much with people or the night sky, but you both did well. I'm glad you shared. Smile

I would love to take pictures of the stars like that, truly amazing.

I may try out a long exposure of the sky sometime, star streaks.

What camera's do you both have? Mine is a Canon 450D and almost always use my 50mm f1.8 prime lens

Sadly, I just have a Canon SD780. I got it when I was going to England and Scotland. I was going to be doing a lot of running around and in crowds, so not knowing the place well, I thought I'd get a small camera that'd fit in my bag. It works well for what it is, but I have my eye on a Canon Rebel Big Grin

I have a Hutech modified Canon T1i. It is set up for astrophotography, but can be used for regular photography using a UV-IR cut filter and a custom white balance.

Nothing wrong with a compact and it's obviously served you well. It simply isnt practical to carry an SLR everywhere

The Rebel (I think) is called a 1000D here, which I believe is almost the same camera as mine just with a slightly lower Megapixel count. Ace camera.

And I presume a very smart telescope too Orogenicman - Very nice indeed, have you managed any snaps of jupiter or saturn? I'd be keen to see any more pics that you have, the one above is wonderful
