If prostitution was legalized

RE: If prostitution was legalized
Apparently in the UK prostitution itself is not illegal. The act of giving a woman money for sex is perfectly legal.

However ORGANISED prostitution is illegal.

But once the guy gives her money, it's illegal! Why does the exchange of money turn an otherwise legal act into an illegal one? There is nothing else that becaomes illegal when money is exchanged.
It gets even more confusing when you consider the fact that the simple addition of a video camera makes it perfectly legal again.

Very true! Women are paid to have sex on camera, but somehow that doesn't qualify as "prostitution". It seems to me the police could better spend their time investigating real crimes and leave people alone who want to have a business arrangement for sex.

To be honest, this could be said of most "crimes". Drugs, guns, copyright, "hate speech", etc. are mostly a waste of investigation time into things that actually matter, like murder, rape, abuse, theft, etc.

copyright isn't really investigated by police.

Replace the word "police" with any investigative body. My statement was meant to be quite broad.

I guess in the case of pornography, both parties are being paid. I can't imagine how this changes anything, but it is the only difference, apart from the camera, that I can see.

I consider the FBI to be a federal police force.

True. Copyright is a tricky issue. It seems that some kind of copyright laws need to be enforced, but at the same time making it illegal to copy a file seems ridiculous.
