The Edit

RE: The Edit
I won't have to. I did minimal editing as I went and am having it read before pushing to publish. I will likely have to make some small changes, but the big edit is done.

RE: The Edit
When you say minimal editing as you went along, do mean that you were editing as you typed the first draft? Because I used to do that, and I could never get a first draft finished. I slowed myself down trying to edit as I went, so now I just throw down the bare bones of the story on the first draft.

Yeah, I was editing as I typed a bit. I'm used to that. I do that for work so I am more efficient. That way, I do the edit as I go and then do the major edit when I am finished. I don't go back and edit as I type, though. I just rescan quickly as I complete each sentence.

See, when I tried to do that, I inevitably start editing as I go with the intent of making it as final as possible. It slowed me down horribly, so now I do the complete opposite with no editing on the fly. This allows me to easily get first draft done quickly, and then I do the editing that I would have done on the fly for the first edit.

I guess you just get used to it over time. I used to have the same problem whenever I would try to write a book, but I've been writing all day, almost every single day, for a few years now.

FNM, I have so much time left to edit and don't think I can resist a second go of it. Big Grin I'll probably post that I am "done" again in a few days.

Romance has got to be easy to write, dude. I've incorporated it into this novel, though I won't in the next novel I write that is not part of this series. I chose horror because it was my first love.

Hopefully you'll find it worthwhile. I'm sure some people find it tedious, but I really enjoy the editing process. It's when you get to add the details and mold your story into what you truly want it to be.

Okay, I am officially done. I even wrote an author bio. Ugh. I hate those.
