The Bible isn't really "a book" its 73 books (less if you are Protestant, more if you are Orthodox), with many authors, many genres and many writing styles. Some are interesting some are quite dry. All of them should be read in light of Tradition and Magisterium.

Can the Catholic church give any evidence to back up the 'accepted' authorships of the Gospels, according to 'church tradition'?

The Holy Bible is the best selling, yet least read book of all time. If it was more well read, I suspect there would be a lot more atheists.

There are significant numbers of Catholic clergy nowadays who would reject Moses actually wrote the Torah or that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wrote the Gospels.

Well strictly speaking. The bible was written by people but only while possessed by the holy spirit. It was actually written by zombies doing the will of God. So you if you want to believe it was written by God you would be right, but since He dictated it all to zombie scribes it is also true to say it was written by humans. Win, win.

No, they should be read like an anthropologist, not an apologist. You can study Ancient Egypt without believing the sun to be a god. And you can study the history of ANY religion without believing in any god. That is what historians do and anthropologists do. Apologists are nothing but comic book fan club members attempting to prop up their books of superstition pretending them to be fact.
A historian says "This is what was written and this was what was popularly believed at the time" They don't try to prove fantastic claims.
Apologist "Magic is real because my book says so"
"Magisterium" is a hollow superstious word specific to Catholics. It is a meaningless word attempting to conflate "wonder" to SuperMary vs Kriptonite.

I would have to disagree, if it these were their own books then they would be independent works yet it seems that there is a lot of interdependence in the books of the bible. Therefore, coupled with the fact that it is a collection of books in one publication (which is also a type of book; Anthlogy), I would claim that it is one book written by many authors, like a really dysfunctional game of consequences.
Books should certainly not be read Quote: in light of Tradition and Magisterium
as this is unquestioning and nobody ever changes anything by accepting it unquestioningly
