7,000 more genes
than a human.....and probably a higher IQ than creationist morons.

The TOMATO - Decoded.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/31/scienc...TE&ei=5043

Quote:The tomato, whose genome has just now been decoded, turns out to be one well-endowed vegetable, possessing 31,760 genes. This rich legacy, possibly a reflection of the disaster that killed off the dinosaurs, is some 7,000 more than that of a person, and presents a complex puzzle to scientists who hope to understand its secrets.

As far as I can tell you can't impregnate a tomato, not for lack of trying.

Wait, did I just say that out loud?

Coolest thing about this, to me, is that now they'll be able to crossbreed it between other fruit even more often now that it's fully decoded. Big Grin

I FUCKING LOVE TOMATOES-
