I was merely implying that the "blessings" he was showered in could be considered an analogy for something else.

You didn't realize calling someone "gay" as though the word carries intrinsic negative meaning is insulting to gay people?

I suspect he just meant for it to be insulting to Mehmet who is a well known homophobe. My guess is that our magnificent bastard, Raphy, was trying to provoke him. Careful, bastard.

To paraphrase Stephen Fry: so it was offensive, so fucking what?

The association of words regarding a person's sexuality with negative connotations is kind of a big deal. All I did was point it out; he's the one who wanted to have a shit parade.

Any indication that the statement I made was negative towards gays has to be based on a clear assumption that I think being gay is a bad thing which in no way was hinted at in any kind context.
Are we done here or do you want to cry about it again?

No, it's based on simple linguistics. The way in which people interpret your statements is different from the way you intend them to be interpreted, especially in a toneless context such as text on a forum.

All I said was that I didn't appreciate your connection of the word "gay" to things I perceive as negative associations. The joke was sophomoric and tactless, and I'm not going to sit idly by just because you think you're being funny. If you want to act indignant and stomp your feet like a six-year-old, that's your prerogative. Don't accuse me of flinging mud when your own hands are covered in it.

Okay, enough with the gay pride vs politically correct aversion controversy. Whatever.

I have my own pink confessions to make. As someone who came to gardening twenty years ago I have had to recognize that I had an unreasonable aversion to the color. I didn't have one bit of pink in my own garden nearly 20 years ago when I visited a friend's garden and walked under her pride and joy, an arbor full of 'New Dawn' rose in full bloom. It was clearly magnificent but I remember blurting out that I'd never have that in my garden. Pink was too girly.

Absurd I know. The good news is I have overcome my cultural bias and now enjoy many shades of pink and use them in my garden. There is nothing hotter than paring pink with orange to really singe your eye sockets. White tends to tone it down. But it probably looks best with yellows. I even have 'New Dawn' in full bloom at this very moment.

Here are some pinks I have in the garden now:

Thats how pink it is.

Woah, fuck yes. If I encounter something pink... I will turn into Julie Andrews?

I'd sell my soul for that.

Lovely garden, whateverist Smile

Nah, you'll turn into this.

I'm so sorry. :-(

Now you are telling me two lies.
