Bad situations are the only way to humble ones heart in such a way to earnestly seek God. Depending on the heart some must experience greater trials than others. Make no mistake it is through Humility that we can truly open the lines of communication with God. Don't pity me for my hardships were carefully crafted gifts. Gifts that I have since learn to reap great reward.

Quote:Many people including Christians go through bad times and end up killing themselves.
Indeed many (even some in my own life) would rather die than die to self.

Quote:God was not there for them. I am sure you will say at this point God called them home, a great excuse Christians always use.
No God called some of them to great humility. For He must break those deeply whom He intends to use greatly. God was there for them. They were not there for God.

Quote: Maybe you were just stronger.
No, Humility is about weakness. I survived because i was not strong enough to kill myself because I did not like my life. I simply submitted. i rolled over and said to God My life belongs to you whatever that means. I am tired of fighting and not willful enough to die for what I believe I deserve. Just take me and do as you will. My life is yours. To the point I stopped praying for a resolution, for my problems. I began to pray for whatever problems I needed to come into my life to change me into who I needed to be. A prayer God gladly and quickly obliged.

Quote: As far as how you met your love interest that means absolutely nothing. If i turned down several women sooner or later i might hook up and then foolishly believe it was destined You see there are a million people for, you, me and everyone out there. If it gets you through your day to believe that God is looking down from heaven (always thought that someone looking down at me from heaven is creepy) knock yourself out.
It wasn't the fact that i did this or that. It was that a 'man' told me what I was going to do 4 to 5 years before I did it. A man i literally said maybe 5 words to total, none of which had anything to do with my love interest.

Again, this was for me and not you. I am simply here to point the way to your own opportunity, not to convince you of mine.

Quote:PS I am more interested in how God communicated to you Is it just a feeling or does he talk to you? I am serious with my question. If you are uncomfortable with answering that don't worry about it. Just curious
I am faithful to what I have been given. If I can give you an answer then I am obligated to do so.

God aside from this encounter has never spoken to me directly. I have had dreams, (of hell, of my impending judgment of which I failed twice/two separate occasions.) My primary direction from God comes in the way of opportunities. Doors will open (Like the loan I got for my business, or how I was able to buy into a 6 figure franchise for less than 3000.00 Or how I have been able to keep it, and have it grow faster than any other in the country.) Other direction comes after I pray. Like if I have a problem with X a radio show or something will directly tell me how to manage problem X. Or there are other times opportunity open up where I simply feel this is something God has lead me to do, but I have absolutely no idea how to do it, I am faithful to the opportunity and things happen, people come across my path to fill in my own short comings.

I also use the bible to make all of my decisions i possibly can. Sometimes I go through hell but in the end things turn out 100x better than I wanted them to.

Then there is answering questions. To be honest when I start reading some of your questions (the new ones not the rehashed ones other atheists have asked.) I sometimes have no Idea what to write or even say. I pray, and then I start seeing pictures of the problem illustrated in my mind. I see the what seems like to be separate problems and then I often see the common thread that unites the principle and simple describe what I see. Often times because i am a simple person the answers seem overly simplistic (like the explanation of the trinity) I do not see or think what has been given most times. and then when you all challenge these principles I get to research and explore how deep and reinforced this principle is. The same happened when I did my bit on evolution/creation.

Then there are times I simply write or describe what I see without seeing how things are connected. The last time this happened was on the x-ray specs. I had absolutely no direction when I was writing it and then stimbo or whomever pointed out a "self mate.." I thought to myself he's right. So i prayed and asked for direction, then something told me to read my own words, and it was like a light went on where i saw how all of the separate problems being described in this thread were tied, and simply described what I saw.

Whatever I 'feel' like I am getting from God it must first pass through the filter of the bible. For God is not the only one who can speak to you. What separates God's voice from the rest is that God will never contradict His own written word.

Maybe I should have made the distinction. This wasn't a bible story. this was an account of an actual event.

Thinking It's good to see that even you realize that the stories in the bible are just that - and NOT actual events.

I know I know, that's not what you meant. My point is that you believe that the angel stories in the bible were indeed actual events just as yours - so therefore my point remains legit. Your angel actually tells you that you can call him a psychic --- proof, that your story is TOTAL bull shit.

Here's a list of Bible references pointing out why your "angel of god" (your hallucination/lie) would never say that.

So, when good things come your way, it's because of God. And when bad things come along, it's a gift from God, helping you develop your strength. Wow, I like them odds. How much does the house take?

If I'm not misreading you, you concluded that this gentleman who was "something like that" was a messenger from God, and that these flashes in your mind, and words coming to present from you are a result of God, rather than simply intuitions or abilities you already have? It sounds to me that you believe in God, therefore anything and everything is a result of God. That's a self-fulfilling prophecy. How do you know the guy wasn't one of Satan's minions? They're certainly "something like" an angel, and it's said they can appear as an angel of light.

So we have things being interpreted as from God regardless of whether they are good or bad, and attributing things to God without any clear sign they are of God. And you wonder why we're skeptical of your thoughts about God?

Beyond that, the question of foretelling events. Several things need to be true. The foretelling has to be specific enough for its success to be unambiguous, it has to be sufficiently unusual that it could not be expected to occur by chance alone, it has to be something that didn't or couldn't come to pass as a consequence of believing in the foretelling (e.g. if you are told you will be successful, and therefore take chances in business, the telling is tainted by your knowledge). But probably most importantly, you have to measure the successful predictions against the failed predictions. Without knowing the full list of (potential) predictions, the hits are worth nothing. And cold readers can convince us of great powers of prediction based on reading you, and using the Barnum effect.

I also find your posting this and then claiming "privacy" when challenged for details to be not a little disingenuous. Either you're willing to witness for God or you aren't. You say that you wrote this all down immediately afterward. Provide your original written account or go away.

(Btw, it's perfectly understandable that you would remember a face rather than a name, that's how the mind works; still, you did write it down right after.)

Bull..Fucking..Shit! How fucking stupid/gullible do you have to be to believe what you said? Abject stupidity might just be the dark energy that physicists stay awake all night looking for.

Are you suggesting that the ten year old boy that took a cock in the ass from Sandusky was being 'broken' for humility's sake, in order to serve a higher purpose? Was the ten year old not there for god?

Those dreams you have about what God is telling you are just dreams. You are going to think what you like and i can't change your mind so........

wow. hey, i won't knock you for feeling what helps you sleep at night, but this kind of thinking is something i can't even fathom. following something which must break you, just so you agree to follow what they say, is just distant to me.

They have to justify the unexplainable and often horrible random things that happen in a person's life. That's how they do it.

Their god is the king of kings alright ... As most gods are assholes, their god is king of the assholes .... The Asshole King, if you will.

Can you imagine wanting to love, fear and serve something that you know had it in mind to break you?!?
No wonder these stupid bastards are so terrified.

just my opinion but damn, i'd have so much more understanding if christians said they don't believe in the story as it's written, but they're of the mind that they just prefer to believe in the symbolism of the words. the ideas behind them, perhaps. i don't know ... maybe not even that. they say some foul things, so even the thoughts behind them are foul. oh well, i guess it's not for me to figure out.

Couldn't an omnipotent god just create people great to begin with? In fact, instead of having a plan for humanity it seems like he's capable of creating the universe as he wanted right away.

No wonder these stupid bastards are so terrified.

It's probably some form of Stockholm Syndrome, or more likely (or even combined with) the kind of psychological dependence that keeps victims in abusive relationships.

Quote:Researchers discovered that many who live with chronic psychological abuse still see certain positive traits in their abusers — such as dependability and being affectionate — which may partly explain why they stay.

Perhaps this goes some way to explaining why they're so desperate to want their invisible partner/captor to exist.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
