Batshittery in Writing.
The "platform" of the Texas Republican Party...which won't differ much at all from the other republibertarianeo-conazis anywhere else.

Just a sample of the things these shitwits are worked up about.

Quote:Free Speech for the Clergy - We urge amendment of the Internal Revenue Code to allow a religious organization to address issues without fear of losing its tax-exempt status. We call for repeal of requirements that religious organizations send the government any personal information about their contributors.

Quote:Confederate Widows Plaque - We call for restoration of plaques honoring the Confederate Widow’s Pension Fund contribution that were illegally removed from the Texas Supreme Court building.

Quote:Homosexuality ― We affirm that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society and contributes to the breakdown of the family unit. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans.

Quote:Right To Life - All innocent human life must be respected and safeguarded from fertilization to natural death; therefore, the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We affirm our support for a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution and to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protection applies to unborn children. We support the Life at Conception Act.

Quote:UN Treaty on the Rights of the Child ― We unequivocally oppose the United States Senate’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Quote:Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority.

This last is emblematic of these cocksuckers. THINKING???? Why THAT's dangerous!!!!!

Respect and safeguard heterosexual life at least. This is the sort of batshittery which results from the avoidance of critical thinking which they are so against

Well, with all due respect, I too am distrusting of so-called 'character education' (HOTS, value clarification). The theories it is based on are largely pseudo-scientific and unproven, it serves no readily identifiable and legitimate pedagogical goal, and it's impossible to teach it without undue influence resulting from the educators' personal biases; it's near impossible to teach it in a truly value neutral way.

That being said, I don't see anything in the list you quoted that is any less self-serving with respect to Republican values than is the political platform of any other political party. You characterize them as crazy because you disagree with their aims, not because their aims are remarkable relative to the aims of other political parties. And at the end of the day, politics and political parties are a lot like the legal system, attempting to use the same logic you use to understand everyday matters will likely only lead you astray.
