Alas, I cannot change the wording, as it appears far too often throughout the site. All I can do is put the limits on what passwords you can choose, which I've done.

The archaic phrase to use is 'shibboleth'. Tongue

I have complied, and I understand that security and passwords are important

But I would argue that it's only a forum password, no real sensitive information at stake, and if someone could be bothered to hack it, what is the worst they could do that wouldn't be solved by emailing a moderator?

My password here is now more complicated than anywhere else except my online banking.

My online banking is stupidly relaxed in their password policy. Kind of ridiculous.

I actually wouldn't mind someone hacking into my online banking. The worst they could do would be to put some money in it.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

This has been covered in the thread. How are you going to email a moderator if you can't log on to the site?

Use the frustration you experience coming up with a password in the password. Makes it more memorable to associate it with that feeling. Could be random swear words and insults mixed with numbers, could be a very long and complex sentence that expresses extreme displeasure.
Point is you won't forget the experience you had to go through to type up a new password so use it as inspiration.
