Mid-America can not do without fruits of science, but mostly doesn't care for science. Perhaps portent of things to come, increasing proportion of the new foreign blood in American scientific community now finds it more advantagous to their career aspirations to return to their native lands. Some forecasts say the scientific research community of China will be 5-6 times the size of those of American by 2030. At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
It makes me ill to think that 2/3 of the people in my country ignore scientific fact and cling to beliefs that shouldn't survive a grade school education.
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.
God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems? Any number of people ignoring science for no good reason is bad. At least most of our idiots in the UK keep to the countryside.

I think as a nation we might look significantly more intelligent once the rest of the Baby Boomers die off.
Not that all of them are religious, but you know how most of those blue-hairs are "good gawd-fearin people." ![]() RE: Evolution poll

A better way of saying it would be that in the rural areas, a large majority of the adult population is religious, by either beliefs or habit. It appears to me that there are a lot more apathetic people in cities, and the religious communities are a lot more insular.
