Think of it this way: How about any other fictional book you've read? Sure, they can reflect the state of society, the author can mention real events that have indeed happen in the past, but at the end of the day it's just a fairy-tale. And wouldn't you too find it highly inaccurate to quote e.g. Jane Austen as a historic document (and she uses a lot less of the fantasy element than the bible)?
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Since your article cited no evidence, I took this as good advice.

Quote:Look fucktard, perhaps if you would have spent more than zero seconds looking through the conversation on this site you would have immediately realized that we are not ignorant of the contents of the greatest selling book of all time. This is inuslting on many levels; hence, the fucktard invocation.

Your entire argument (aside from the idiotic Bible quotes) seems to rest on the fact that miracles were needed before the advent of mass communication. How else, beside ancient communication methods, were these miracles disseminated? For fuck's sake, this was a very stupid argument.

Go read the Bible front to back and get back to us. Chiming in with last Sunday's sermon is not impressive.
I know I asked the question and I wasnt trying to start some fight I was trying to simply ask a question. I am not a bible scholar so no I dont know everything about the bible. for all you know I may have been questioning my on faith and trying to find answers outside of sunday services. to call me a fucktard and curse at me is insulting not only to me but also those who stand with you in your beliefs that their isnt a God.But please forgive me as new member of this site for not reading every thread and every comment before I asked a question and gave an explanation why i believed in the bible not only that but maybe helping you to be prepared to answer this question for someone else that ask it. so heres the deal, yall may want to try a different approach to how you reply to someones question rather than try to look like some big shot in front of your internet buddies, because treating people with disrespect is an automatic turn form the thought following someone like you and your beliefs.

You seem to think that this one person is an ambassador for everyone else on this site. Please, don't make generlizations based upon one user's response.

RE: The bible
Beliefs beliefs beliefs, eh TG? Let me clear this up for you, atheism is characterized by not having those beliefs. It isn't a cult that people want you to follow, I (personally) don't go door to door...I doubt that you'll find many atheists that do. No one has to be nice to you in order to persuade you, and it isn't a detriment to atheism et. al. if people aren't nice to you (especially if you're looking for a reason "not to follow" atheism, whatever the fuck that means).

You don't have to be a bible scholar. As far as I'm aware none of us here are (one particular posters fantasies about himself aside). However, if you want to make these arguments, if you want to be a proponent for any given position, you have to at least know enough about that position to field a competent argument (even if you happen to be incorrect..no shame in that).

People get highly frustrated with these communal arguments ad naus, this isn't exactly surprising, is it? Before you start telling people that they are dealing with you harshly consider the harsh implications of what you argue for, and realize that until something is presented, it isn't the fabric of the cosmos making these implications...it's you. Consider also that some people interpret these appeals to fairy tales as an insult to their intelligence.

Rather than point out every lie, I will refute only one, and thus gorge the credibility of the entire article:
Quote:The Davidic Empire, which archaeologists once thought as incontrovertible as the Roman, is now seen as an invention of Jerusalem-based priests in the seventh and eighth centuries B.C

Beware of articles that cite no evidence.

There are entire books on the subject, asshole. Not that you would ever read anything which upsets your holy applecart.

The Bible Unearthed is one such but you will run screaming to your fucking bible rather than face reality.

RE: The bible
Its funny that religionists ask for evidence to anything that contradicts their holy book, yet they require none to believe the bullshit on said book.

How convenient Dodgy

Beware of institutions that want you only to research from their chosen material inside their chosen establishments with the watchful eye of their chosen tutors.

Case in point, when investigating the FBI for lies and conspiracy, the government hires an investigative team ... get this ... FROM the FBI. Surprise surprise, nobody ever finds any dirt on the FBI despite their deplorable behavior regarding private citizens, compounds and the like.

Are you making the connection here????? Study for yourself ThereisaGod, and study it from everywhere you can, not just your comfort zone.
