It's nice to see at least two or three more reasonable women out there who aren't constantly crying about their victimhood.
Yes, we know, women have it hard, and bad things happen. But at the same time, keeping perspective is a really admirable thing. I just have to put this bit about mothers here, since I was watching Burr last night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwPg2oarG_c
Atheist + is that like google +.
Ven diagrams of differing levels of non-belief. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.
I would just point out that being a parent (note, parent, not mother) is sometimes mind-numbing. Think about staying home with an infant... The child demands 100% of your attention (if you don't give them your full attention, your belongings will be trashed and the child may come to harm), you are forced to play peek-a-boo for the millionth time, you have no adults around to converse with... It can suck. It can be monotonous and dull. But it can also be amazing. Most dangerous job in the world? No. But it is an important one.
As for the putting toddlers to bed anytime it pleases you, as stated in the clip, he's obviously never tried to get an over-stimulated, over-tired 3 year old to sleep... I wouldn't trade my kids for all the freedom in the world, but it's not a cake walk.
I might be tempted to trade mine for a hell of alot less than all the freedom in the world, just how many cocktails are we going to have before I hear the pitch?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
Burr is a comedian guys. He's kidding.

I've seen it pop up in my youtube feed once or twice but ignored it. Probably just another stupid atheist movement talking point like that Rebecca Watson thing or whatever the hell the fuss was with Thunderf00t and PZ Myers. I don't even give these issues any time from my day; I have much, much more interesting things to read (August 30, 2012 at 3:50 pm)Rhythm Wrote: I might be tempted to trade mine for a hell of alot less than all the freedom in the world, just how many cocktails are we going to have before I hear the pitch? Nah, I like having my kids around. They offer fresh perspectives on things and are pretty funny. But the occasional break involving some tropical drinks and a beach would not go amiss.
Misogyny:
Is it just me or all the women kvetching about this shit ugly? Seriously, I find this whole situation fucking retarded, as I stated in another thread. Let them marginalize themselves - it's not going to stop the rest of us humanists from truckin' on with what we were doing all along. Fuck 'em. |
