Could not, or would not?

Prevented from doing so by a bunch of retards in Congress.

Quote:The 2011 Defense Authorization Bill additionally prohibits “the use of funds to modify or construct facilities in the United States to house detainees transferred from United States Naval Station, Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.”[250][251] Obama signed the 2011 Defense Authorization Bill, but nevertheless the Obama administration "will work with the Congress to seek repeal of these restrictions, will seek to mitigate their effects, and will oppose any attempt to extend or expand them in the future," the president's statement said.

I suppose he could have vetoed the bill it would have been political suicide and there is no assurance that a subsequent bill would not have had the same provision.

Both. He could not shut down the physicality and would not shut it down as an institution.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

I don't know about this as corporate America has taken over our congress. Then the laws that corp. can spend as much as they want on a election and in so many terms buy your votes. The GOP will out spend the dems. by 500 million. But the biggest thing is the lobbyist and campaign finance. If you spend millions for a senator to get elected you will get paid back with their votes. No one gives money away just to get regulated or controlled by the very person they helped get in office. Corruption goes hand in hand with Washington. That runs on both sides of the isle.

There are aspects of America that are fascist. Homeland security is a big one... Detention without trial is another... These are entities and powers that Obama should have laid down when he took office, but when has a president ever laid down executive powers won by previous presidents?

They all promise that once the crisis has abated they will lay down the powers given to them, but they never do.

The only real fascism in America is found on college Campuses where there are 'speech codes' to effectively criminalise anyone from expressing views that oppose anything A+ approves of.

I think we are restricting ourselves too much in the classification of fascism. Admittedly the state is questionable in this but, if it is not truly fascistic, then there is also the culture to be considered. There have been many states of cultural fascism over the years and the racist undertones in american society seem denotative of this.
Religion is an attempt to answer the philosophical questions of the unphilosophical man.

It is absurdly overused, especially by the least informed.
