Anti-DoS Protection & Logging
#11
RE: Anti-DoS Protection & Logging
I'm not able to get into AF.org while I'm at home, starting a few days ago (possibly when I got a new DHCP address from my ISP). I can access AF from the same devices when on other networks. I have to use a proxy when I'm at home.

Is it possible that somehow my address is running afoul of the anti-DOS protection. Are you using any DNS-based blacklists? This address is listed in an anti-spam blacklist (presumably someone who had this address in the past used it for nefarious purposes or the blacklist is blocking by range).

@Tiberius - I'll PM you the address.

Well, your address is blocked. Apparently you made 605 requests in a short amount of time (short enough to trigger the ban). I'll look into it later as I'm on the train atm. Might have to up the limit, though I'm confused as to how you made that many requests through normal browsing.

Can't imagine how that could be the case. I'll scan my laptop as a precaution.

Interest and intrigue at AtheistForums.org!

I'm sure between the two of you this will be cleared up quickly. Smile

Ok, I've looked into it and it seems that you cleared your browser cache at some point 2 days ago, which meant that when you visited AF, you downloaded a load of files (images, scripts, CSS, etc.)

You managed to do that so quickly it tricked the anti-DOS protection into thinking you were trying to attack the server. I've increased the limit so it shouldn't happen again. Oh, and your IP should be unbanned now.

Weird. I don't recall clearing my browser cache but I suppose I could have.

I was once not able to access the site from an AT&T "hotspot." It was at a Sams Club. Maybe that store blocks all atheists sites but I thought I'd just mention it incase you accidentally somehow blocked those things.
My ignore list
