Suffering
#61
RE: Suffering
"If it were to exist". See this is why we don't always write it out in full, GC. It's just taken as read.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

RE: Suffering
I find it interesting that GC goes on about unborn children suffering due to drugs and STD. What about the allegedly faithful married man, who on his trip to Thailand got a nice infection, got his wife pregnant and then the baby has to suffer. Wait, it still doesn't make sense that the child should suffer because daddy couldn't keep his cock in his pants or be upfront about his blunder. Or what about the overly zealous and religious father, who beats his children, driving them into deep depression, making sure that they can't trust another human being, and even when the children have grown up and moved on their own continues to mock them, call them names and tell them how worthless they are, just because the god he worship is a murdering psychopath who relish the pain of children and people. But doesn't the child deserve this, after all, he or she is sinful from birth, and the father is the righteous hand doing the will of god, so the suffering is actually a blessing?
No, I can accept the fact that life isn't fair (thank goodness, otherwise we would actually deserve all the bad stuff that happens to us), that some will suffer more than others due to geography, education, gender, war etc. but I cannot fathom why an almighty god can't take care of his creation better and protect those in need.
What did you say?
Oh, free will, right.. No, no, I agree, we should agree to take care of one another without the interference of such pesky gods, but then be at least upfront about it, we're on our own and suffering is due to random chance, not punishment or lessons.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
