Yeah, there should be a way to know this kind of stuff.
It's just a little strange to me that Pad wouldn't say anything for so long. It might be that he is depressed, angry, or ... something. Or what if his computer just crashed one day? I think that theory is more plausible than Lion's theory, at least.
That's part of what Tim is doing right now - putting some e-mails out locally.
Yeah, learned it is better to be safe than sorry the hard way today. Better keep digging.
