Birthers

RE: Birthers
I did not say that everyone who dislikes Obama is a racist. I said it's an underlying reason for the Birther movement. There's a big difference. There are people who cannot tolerate that Obama is in office because he is black and this is how they've decided attack it. In the video that I showed you the senator taking questions is against Obama, but accepts that Obama is a citizen. There are plenty of people critical of Obama who criticize based on the issues, and that's perfectly fine. But there are still people who hate blacks and hate that we have a black president. Don't believe me, just watch McCain/Palin rallies, a guy carrying a monkey with an Obama sticker, calling him a Muslim terrorist, or how about that song "Barack the Magic Negro?" The people behind the birther movement are the same people who touted those other things I mentioned.

And just watched Countdown where the go through the whole birther thing, it's a good video and shows how ridiculous this movement is. And their correspondent said, just as I did, that there are racial undertones to this movement.

Adrian, here is our Constitution bill in place for POTUS.

Age and Citizenship requirements - US Constitution, Article II, Section 1

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

Wow, this another awesome clip. David Schuster is becoming one of my favorite reporters, he doesn't let people get away with nonsense and drops the hammer when they make a ridiculous point.

RE: Birthers
I wouldn't call the birther movement racist. There's no way of knowing exactly what the motivations behind that stance is. Saying, or even suggesting so is a very Al Sharpton thing to do.

These nutjobs contest everything they can about Democratic politicians. If John McCain were running on the same platform as Obama, against the GOP smear machine, I'm certain we'd be looking at the same controversy.

It's not a racial issue at all.

I agree. It's not being able to dig up real dirt on Obama they need to resort to these silly arguments.

Per se,I guess not. However, from here it certainly looks as if there are some nasty racist elements..

The real cause is impatience. Dropkicks like that appalling daughter of that war criminal, are too stupid and impatient to simply wait for Obama to shoot himself in the foot, and he will. No one could live up to the expectations a lot of Americans have for him. He's really just a normal person,so he's gonna make mistakes, perhaps some big ones.

Personally, I blame Dubya. He spoiled everyone. He managed to say something stupid or mangle the English language every time he was permitted to make an unscripted public utterance. I think people understand Obama is smarter, but have not yet realised just how MUCH smarter. They will need to wait for him to make some real blunder. That means patience, and thanks to Dubya, that is something to which they are unaccustomed. So they make up shit. See, it's all Dubya's fault.

(it might be seen as a bit tactless to compare some of the major policies of the two administrations)

Ah think perhaps Americans are to close to the situation to be objective, and I'm too far away to really care all that much..Cool Shades

PS: It always confused me as to why Dubya was proud to be a pubic wig. No,really,I actually heard him say ,more than once; "Ah'm proud to a merkin"
