Uni Health Care
RE: Uni Health Care

Yeah I said corporations do what they do to save money and I'm not sure why you didn't read that and chose to respond by writing basically the same thing I did. So much for literacy. I AM in college and I'm quite literate and since you want to go down that road it's civilized...not civilised. If you don't live in America then why do you even care in the first place?

i've changed my opinion of you. Yoo call yourself a Libertarian, I call you a fascist, based on your recent postings.

Oh because of the survival of the fittest thing? Well that's because we ARE overpopulated. Humans are a disease to the Earth and we are going to end up killing out our own race if we aren't careful. I can't stand that people think we are more important than animals or our environment. Just because we can build buildings or make machines doesn't mean we are any better. We are the same as a worm or a fish or any other animal that we share Earth with. We need to not make laws to protect stupid people. Wellfare falls into that category. I'm not looking at this as a political movement. I have these views because I'm a tree hugging hippy.

Civilised is the British spelling.

You miss my points, incredulously, or perhaps not.

I don't mind the elderly getting a free ride when it comes to health care. I also don't mind if mentally or physically retarded people or disabled people get a free ride with health care.

Wow. All I have to say to that is....fuck.
I'm sure my son with autism will be oh so grateful that you are willing to spare a few tax dollars for his health care.
I hope when you grow up and have your own children you'll change your tune miss.

Well this little girl, Land Fish, Dry Fish, Tree Fish, or whatever her name is, is amusing. Thankfully I believer her views are in the minority. At least I hope so. I'd hate to think of a country run the way she thinks it should be run. And may 'Jesus' help any children she may have in the future. Her ideas will kill them just like those who kill their children by choosing prayer over medical treatment.

I have a child. I pay for their health care. So are you saying that you can't pay for your childs health care? Why do you expect everyone to help pay for their care? They are your child...not everyone elses. Most people do feel the way I do about this issue. Most people don't like to pay taxes to go toward social programs. Most people feel their money is their money and not anyone elses. Why anyone thinks one should work to help feed everyone else is beyond me. That defeats the whole point of working. The point is to work to feed yourself and your family. If you haven't noticed the people complaining about this issue you should turn on the TV. People are pretty angry about this government ran health care plan. Only the far left bleeding heart liberals support it and just a few conservatives are for it. Most people are saying that if their congressmen and congresswomen vote YES on this thing they will not vote for them when they come up for re election. I see no problem with it the way it is. If we could put some cap and trade on the medical business so that they can't charge an arm and a leg for something as simple as a blood test then we would be ok. People need to stop expecting to get things for free. It takes a lot to become a doctor and they deserve to be paid well for what they do and their knowledge. Tuition costs around 60 grand or more per year for a good college. They have to be able to make that money back. This free health care will cause a long wait at a clinic and will cause the USA to have to employ more doctors. Those doctors will come from foreign countries to fill those spots. How is this helping American doctors to get jobs in America? What about the doctors who graduate at the top of their class from a well respected institution? They will not get a job over a foreign doctor because that foreign doctor will work for less money. I'm not interested in seeing a doctor that didn't graduate at the top of their class. I'm really not interested in having to wait for a week to see one for an illness. Canadian doctors are over worked, under paid, and people have to wait forever just to see them. Their quality of healthcare is low when they do see them. There's Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville and UK in Lexington and then a couple in Louisville KY that are top of the line hospitals. When I or my family get sick we go to one of those hospitals for serious care. Those good hospitals will be non existant if this free halth care plan becomes reality. You can expect to pay about two grand a day for a bed at Vanderbilt but they employ only the top medical professionals. There is a band aid station disguised as a hospital about five miles from my house. It's about 100.00 a day if you want to be cheap about it. I wouldn't take my dog there because they will just about kill you. That is what we'll see all over.

No this is not misinfomation. He wants FREE health care. Just like Canada and Europe. At first he was talking about letting people keep their own health insurance and using a government ran health insurance if they needed it. Recently he's changed his mind and has decided we need a total government ran health care. I just listened to him in a speech this morning talking about how Christians should support free health care because it's "moral". They are talking about how people are "domestic terrorists" for protesting and arguing at these town hall meetings yet some Democrats at the anti immigration rallys were turning over cars and beating people up. I can't believe they are talking about staged disruptions. Obama's administration are sending in people from ACORN to show up at these meetings. They are staging people who are pro free health care! That setting the record straight website doesn't mean anything. They are doing the same thing the republicans are doing. This is why I don't like Democrats or Republicans. They are both whiny babies that want to take turns throwing punches at eachother. Neither one of them know how to do anything to fix our issues.

I voted for Obama because I despise that ignorant Christian moron Palin and didn't trust McCain. I can't believe what a big flop this health care stuff is turning into. I don't care what anyone decides as long as I and fellow Americans don't have to pay more taxes to pay for it. That's all I care about. In our economy we don't need more taxes and it's unethical to tax people who work for their money to pay for people who can't afford insurance. They can put a cap and trade on health care and put stipulations on health insurance companies and not allow doctors to charge three and four hundred percent profits on procedures like standard tests and x rays. That way Americans can get basic care and preventative care and not cost them an arm and a leg. I do not want the government to run my health insurance. I don't like the government and I don't trust the American government and I sure do not want to "do business" with them.
RE: Uni Health Care
In a perfect world we wouldn't need universal health care or other social programs. In a perfect world everyone could take care of themselves as well as those less fortunate and we could function as a society with a minmum of government coercion.

Unfortunately, the world we live in is far from perfect. It's painfully obvious that this system is failing a lot of people. For you, Dry Land Fish, it works great. I can understand how the system isn't broken from your perspective.

What if, FSM forbid, you get sick and your insurance provider decides it was a pre-existing condition that warrants ending your coverage? I can assure you that would never happen in the single payer system I'm covered under in Canada. If you get sick, for any reason, you'll get treatment until the day you croak or tell them to pull the plug.

I, personally, haven't had to use our healthcare system much. Certainly not anywhere near equivalent to the amount I've contributed in taxes. But when I see someone like my 19 year old sister-in-law diagnosed with cancer, starting chemo within 2 weeks and getting flown to Toronto to the best doctors in the country for surgery I don't feel robbed or oppressed for paying 15% tax on every paycheque. I don't resent that people less fortunate are benefitting from my tax dollars when I am not. I feel proud that my country has a system that allows this to happen.

When you come in here and say things like Canadians have to wait for treatment, and imply that Canadians are unhappy with their healthcare, you're lying. It's not true.

RE: Uni Health Care
dry land fish where are you getting your information from?

And Meatball....I love you! Thank you for saying Canadians aren't unhappy with their health care. I would gladly pay taxes on a health care system like Canada or the UK. It's like paying it forward. A good deed to provide a service to someone who needs it. I guess I'm a more compassionate person than others here.
