I haven't noticed the Pentagon budget shrinking a bit, dear.

We ALWAYS have the money to kill people. If worse comes to worse we just borrow it from the Chinese.

Well of course not. I have good reasons for not wanting this current plan. You can't say that being worried about "government control", our current state of debt both privately and the debt our government owes to other countries, and the fear that our health care overall could become less valuable are not important concerns.

I wonder if any of you were ever in the military and had to see a military doctor? I was in the military once and I've stated my husband was in it and even in Iraq. The doctors the government employ are either foreign and you can't understand a word they say or they are the ones who graduated last in their class and are just happy to find a job. I see the care people get from the government doctors. I have uncles who go to the VA and a husband who goes. It's scary and I'd be afraid for a life or death surgery to be performed there. A government dentist pulled one of my husbands teeth when he was in the military and they pulled the wrong tooth!!!! He couldn't sue them because they were a government doctor. I don't mind a foreign doctor but I do care if we have current American citizens who are doctors who need a job and they get turned down because a foreign doctor is willing to move here and work for less money. They give jobs to the lowest bidder...who usually is also not the best doctor. I'm concerned that this could be the treatment we get under a "free" system. What would stop them if they already do it to people right now? We need private doctors to start up their own businesses and we need private insurance companies to stay in business. I'd hate to see the government put anyone out of business. Private companies are an asset considering all of the corporations we have today. I understand some insurance companies are corporations but we have local ones that cover doctors in the three or four county area and some that cover just KY. Those jobs keep a lot of families going and it would be a shame to see them lose their jobs because of our government.

That's a lie. When have government employees ever been above the law?

DLF, you've done nothing but provide even more evidence that you are selfish and woefully ignorant about the way the world works.

You constantly spout the line that any poor person should simply get an education and pull themselves out of poverty. Even though I got you to admit that there will always be poor people, even if every citizen has a PHD, and you said they don't deserve healthcare.

You're a terrible person. Or a terribly stupid person. I really can't believe you're not a troll. Which one of these are you?

My son has been in the Navy for 3 years now and has been to Iraq. He's doing just fine. I have heard no complaints about his medical care from him or his wife. In fact he gets better coverage now than he did under our private insurance plan when he was growing up.

And how is this different from private insurance? My insurance usually sends me to a physicians assistant, is that a pure bread American white Dr.? And a lot of the Dr.s here at the local clinic are not "white". Oh no, the end of white people becoming Dr.s.....shit, what are us poor white folks to do. You do realize how incredibly racist you sound.

Hmmmm....that seems to be what we have right now AND IT ISN'T WORKING. President Obama said out of his own mouth that he wasn't going to get rid of private insurance. Cannot you hear? He will just make it easier for people to CHOOSE an insurance plan that they can AFFORD, along with the list of private insurance there will be a public OPTION. That means you DON'T have to choose that if you don't want to. YOU CAN KEEP WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE IF YOU LIKE IT. THAT WON'T CHANGE. This is exactly what I heard come out of the presidents mouth. SHIT!

Soldiers cannot sue the military for malpractice. Don't believe me? It's happened before. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/2...0657.shtml I'm not a troll or a terrible person but I do believe I'm a bitch. I will not apologize for not caring about people who don't care about themselves. I'm not going to feel sorry for someone who cannot afford food to feed their kids or afford medical care. Should have thought about that before they took the road in life that they chose. Should have saved for a rainy day. I came from a really poor background and I don't have those problems. If I can do it...they can too. I never said anything about white doctors. I said AMERICAN doctors. Are you so liberal that you think everyone is a racist that wants to keep foreign born people out of our country to ensure more jobs for Americans? We have the most liberal immigration policy in the world...that needs to change. The government will put private companies out of business. They will bombard doctors with patients they can't handle and it will cause our quality of medical care to decline.

Of course there will always be poverty stricken people because some people are too stupid to understand how not to live like that. An education is the answer if someone is smart enough to actually see that. We need to make education more affordable for people....not healthcare. Good jobs = good healthcare. We don't need to reward people for being poor lousy Americans and keep them poor. We can't just hand everything to people and say "ok you are poor and that's ok...here's your free cheese and go back to sitting on your ass". It is NOT ok to live in poverty or have a family you cannot take care of or pay for medical expenses to treat them. If we give things to people it's saying that their behavior is ok. People need to pull their own weight in life. It's not up to the rich to support the poor.

I agree Binny. We've been going around in circles constantly, all to try to disabuse DLF of the notion that the poor's problems will be solved simply by education and a good job. She doesn't get the complexity of the situation and we've argued it to death. No one is benefiting from the conversation anymore, I say it's time to lock.
