YANGON, Myanmar (AP) - As many as 140 World War II Spitfire fighter planes - three to four times the number of airworthy models known to exist - are believed to be buried in near-pristine condition in Myanmar. A British-Myanmar partnership says it will begin digging them up by the end of the month.

Be great if they are in good enough condition to fly.

I don't know what it is but there's something just so damn inspiring, if that's the right word, about the Spit. For me. they are the concentrated essence of what a fighter plane should be.

In fact, while digging around about this story, I just found out that if you happen to live in America or can afford to get there, you can get to fly one yourself.
