Time To Remind Everyone
what the republicunts have in mind for disaster relief.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/30...tail=email

Quote:remember that Majority Leader Eric Cantor insisted last year that any increase in disaster aid funding had to come from cutting funds for equipping and training first responders by 40 percent. House Republicans nearly forced a government shutdown over disaster aid funding. They succeeded in forcing massive cuts to the program, passing a $2.65 billion bill for the disaster relief fund for the year, when the need is closer to $12 billion, annually. That's based on the average year, the average need. Hurricane Sandy is likely to blow that figure to smithereens.

Republicans have taken disaster relief hostage for the past two years, insisting like Mitt Romney that it's more appropriate for the states, already financially strapped and facing further cuts in federal aid, to take the lead in responding.

Like Mitt Romney, they pretend that it's about the deficit. They preach, like Romney did in a primary debate, that it's "immoral" to spend this money now and pass the debt on to future generations. They ignore the fact that it's at least as immoral to pass on to our children a crumbling and dysfunctional infrastructure that they'll have to figure out how to rebuild.

Fortunate for New Jersey that they did not have to risk recovery in an age when that mormon shitwit was president.

Cutting disaster funding is like pretending you're never going to have a computer crash that loses your files.

Come to think of it, that's probably why these morons want to cut disaster funding.

It's also very easy to cut disaster funds for the peons when you and your pals have multiple houses and millions to burn. Undecided

The repubs what to push that kind of thing off on state and local governments.

In 2010 a locally commissioned report stated that NYC need to spend $250 million to protect against storm surge damage to their underground infrastructure. It was deemed to costly. One estimate I saw said that type of damage in NYC from Sandy could exceed $25 billion. I know it's just a couple of zeros but if NYC couldn't come up with $250 million where the fuck are they supposed to get $25 billion?

I think Romney wants them to hold a bake sale.

Anything except raising taxes on rich bastards.

If we pay for federal disaster relief, how will we afford our over-inflated defense budget?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Fuck! You're right. We might even have to stop dropping bombs on people!

Clearly we can't have that. This is America, dammit!

I think the current plan is to round up a group of negroes and sell them as slaves - much more profit in it than baked goods.
