The Deceptive Mechanisms

Can you rationalize every action of yours with scientific logic?
Have you once made a decision with your mind without using probability mathematics?
Do you strive to eliminate emotion from each choice you make?
Is everything 'true' in your life backed up by scientific data alone--in other words, does your opinion always adhere to the views of the world's current best and brightest?

Do go on, I'm interested to hear what you have to say, although it sounds like you're going to rely on anecdotal arguments. If that's the case, then it means all the religions of the world are true. Think about that one.

I take it your answer is "No" to all the above then?

WTF kind of definition of "scientific data" is that?
Wait, are you saying there are different ways to interpret "evidence" so that the best and brightest would not all agree?

Some would be yes and some would be no I'm pretty sure. What are you getting at?

So what kind of evidence are you looking for? Personal or testable?

A choice between anecdotes and testable evidence......whew boy, that's a tough one.....
(are those two categories exclusive or something btw, if somebody told me he saw rain fall yesterday I could test that.)
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. How would you test it? Would that be testing the event or the source?

RE: The Deceptive Mechanisms
I could test either.

1: I'd make sure he had eyes. (source and event)
2: I'd make sure he understood what rain was. (source)
3: I'd check the weather report. (event)

How difficult did you think that was going to be?

Can you explain how a one-time event might be experimentally tested?

We would examine the effects. For example, if it was wet as though it had just rained, but we did not actually see the rain, we could still conclude that it had rained because that is more logical than other explanations, such as if we asserted that flying unicorns cryed down on us.

And because we have scientifically verified where rain comes from and by what process, we could also include this in the explanation if it was absolutely necessary.

@UD

1. Source and event, he claimed to have seen something, he'd need eyes for the "seeing" part of the event. Try again.

2. Agreed, source. I mean sure, I could be a dick and call his understanding of what he claims to have seen an event as well, but I'm really trying to give you some wiggle room. Good faith and all.

3. Event, the weather report is independent of his claim. Try again.

Let me guess, you can't proceed without "untestable evidence" or "personal evidence" (the two somehow becoming hilariously exclusive in your mind)...can you. Jerkoff
