Now you're just giving people like Daniel ammunition to say atheists believe god doesn't exist. That's really not what atheism is Facepalm

Oh well, welcome anyway.

Thanks for bringing to attention evidence for my position! Big Grin

His beliefs are no more relevant than your own.

Evidence for your god boy is what is demanded.

I can correct someone when they call themselves an atheist yet say something that would contradict it.

Suck out.

Sorry but you're wrong. His position (believes there is no god) is not incompatible with Atheism!

I'm getting rather tired of telling you to look up definitions in the dictionary Danny boy.

I hate to contradict my favorite forum cunt but why can't our newest member have a belief in no higher power if she wants? Gnostic atheists do exist. They're just a hell of a lot rarer (as a % of all atheists) than gnostic atheists. Few theists are very discerning about what they have good reason to believe when it comes to religious matters. Most atheists on the other hand will happily concede agnosticism but then also embrace defacto atheism. The effort required to maintain unwarranted beliefs seems to interfere too much with a person's cognitive equilibrium to allow them to concede agnosticism. But agnostic theists too do exist and I especially enjoy chatting with them.

Oops, where are my manners? Welcome F&C's. I'm just up the coast from you in balmy Berkeley, California. Moros S. is also in our general area but I don't know exactly where. My impression is that Southern Cal if rampant with churchy folks. My younger brother is one of them. Glad for you that you could escape.

I never said they couldn't Confused Fall

Quote:Gnostic atheists do exist

True, but to me this is a complete oxymoron. The very definition of atheism is lack of belief in a god or gods.

To then be absolutely positive to believe there aren't any at all, just seems foolish IMO.

I was just pointing out the difference between a lack of belief and a belief (something many people get wrong, sorry if I'm an ass about it). Atheism is a lack of belief in gods is it not? Hence why I was moaning at Dan to look in the dictionary, seems too many people have their own definitions of what atheism bloody is.

Hi! Good that you found us. Welcome to AF! ^_^
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
