FC3 was a disappointment. I was really, really hyped for this game. I was and am an FC2 fan. It took so many steps backwards from FC2. Practically everyone will disagree with me on this, though, since people who think FC2 was a 10/10 game, like me, are few. Bought FC3 at full price a week after release; Sold it for half of what I paid about 3 weeks later.

I've never played FC2 but most people I've heard say they like FC3 better.
I march against the Asagods
To bring the end of time.
I am pure and endless pain
And Surtr is my name.

See me rise, the mighty Surt,
Destroyer of the universe.
Bringer of flames and endless hurt
Scorcher of men and Earth.

I have played every Far Cry so far (Maybe because it`s from a German developer) and I have to say that Far Cry 3 is the best one.
In FC 2 the story was a bit weird, the African scenarion had so much potential, but wasn`t used to full extent.
There is hardly media let alone games who cover African conflict zones, and lthough the story was good to some extent, the game didn`t excite me.
A unknown country, the lack of detail about the conflict, two fractions, few weapons, no civilians, hardly any sidequests.
Everyone who is only a bit informed on african conflict zones such as Congo, Ivory Coast or Liberia,... knows that the game doesnt come close to giving a picture of the situation there.
In my view, the best games about war are those which realisticaly represent the conflict and horror of war.
But I still wish that the Africa scenario would be revisited, maybe in Far Cry 4. But this time in a real existing country with a realistic representation of the conflict.

What I liked so much about FC 3 was the story, which was very gripping and didn`t let you go.
And of course the enormous amount of stuff one could do beside the story.
But again, I am annoyed of the lack of weapons in FC 3, like in each FC.
And the lack of flying vihicles, I want to fly a chopper in the next FC.

Yeah, that's what I hear most people complaining about after they play FC2.

Wouldn't have worked in FC3 very well. It would have ruined the outpost system by making it too easy to capture them.

See, I disagree with this so much. I'd take FC2's almost-non-existing, no-emphasis-on story-line over FC3's, any day.

FC3 story was bad. Vaas was cool as fuck. Too bad there was so little of Vaas. Also, that bullshit when Jason is in an inescapable situation and through sheer magic, comes out on top, was a big part of why the story was trash. I already hate the "one second you're here; next second you're there" phasing game-play - which this game was already guilty of, by the way - but to use that same shit in dangerous scenario's brings lazy to a whole-nother level.

Oh, I forgot to mention the multi-player. I was planning on mentioning it but I got too caught up in the garbage that is FC3 story. Multi-player is much, much worse than the story-mode. Match-making is horrible, which is a big part of why multi-player sucks. The actual game-play is just plain-fucking bad, though.

This game was, to be concise and blunt...underwhelming. That's the best description I can give it.

Well, in conclusion I like playing games with awsome stories.
like Black Cocks, Modern Warfare 1, Metro 2033 or other.

And I am still bussy massacring the wildlife in Far Cry 3 with flamethrower, C4, granade launchers and other weapons not meant for hunting, which is a nice and amusing addition.

And what I loved about FC3 were the short German moments.

I'm a fan of story but usually in open world games it never flows properly. The best stories come from relatively linear RPG's (level wise). Games like this I couldn't give two fucks about a story, surely it's just the action and gameplay that are the reasons I'd play this sort of game no? Maybe it's just me.

It is a good game, but it is not unmissable. It's got a good story(at least as far as I am), but the number of weapons really holds it back. The gun play is average, but it makes up for it with stealth and unlockable moves you can use after creeping up on someone.

So, due to the lineup of games this year and if you were limited to 3 games, I would pass on FC 3.
We've got Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, Grand Theft Auto V, Tombraider, and God of War: Ascension all coming this year.

If you're really looking to check out something I see as unmissable, play Dishonored.
