I bet you that the 46 million of your fellow Americans who are without acces to healthcare , plus those that have a policy but who fear it will not cover them for every eventuality,would change your system for our National Health Service immediately, no further questions asked!
Every country has " dumb asses " for politicians.....it's a requirement for the job!
Of course no system is perfect, but a properly funded ( via a progressive taxation system ) universal healthcare system, is surely the best option.
Trouble with you is thhat on every subject your view boils down to " it's all about me ".

No it's not all about me. It's about what is best for our taxpayers. I don't have health insurance and I do not want a government funded health insurance plan. Most of my friends who have no insurance do not want a government funded health insurance plan either. As a matter of fact this is the ONLY place I've seen any American say they want one other than on the news every now and then. You cannot expect for everything to be covered. Sometimes sh*t happens in life. Why do people think that life should be so easy that they get everything for free? You have to pay for good health because it's expensive for people to make machines to help us to be well. It's expensive for doctors and other medical professionals to go to school to get an education so they can help us. Someone has to pay...and it should NOT be the taxpayers as a whole.

I think what is interesting is that a lot of young people want this plan. Those same young people have not really worked for what they have. They have not gotten out there and saw what it is like to buy your car, your home, your clothing, your food, and everything else that one has to buy. They have this mentality because mom and dad buys everything for them that everything should be free. That rich people have money to spend and just tax the hell out of them. Get a good job and you won't have to worry about this mess. I had a chemistry teacher with a masters who had cancer and who was also on an experimental drug. She went every week to get chemo. Now this woman was a total b*tch and we all hated her with everything in us...she still was able to afford her treatments and I'm sure the university gave her a good health plan. A good friend of mine works for a university and she has everything covered by her plan..including cancer. It doesn't take long to get a masters. It's possible for any normal American to get an education and to not even have to worry about their health because they will be taken care of. The same goes for many different professional positions and it all boils down to requiring a higher education. I don't see how one can feel sorry for a low income family...they made their bed. They can lie in it.
