Prophecies of Daniel.

I've been told something a long the lines that Daniel makes predictions that are very specific. Those predictions happened in history. And that the intellectual theory before was that those were added to Daniel AFTER the events unfolded. Only thing is they found the dead sea scrolls in which the book of Daniel is found (ie. with these predictions).

I'm not sure of the details of the arguments for and against this are, the exact prophecies that suppose to have come true, etc...

The Unfulfilled Predictions

Daniel 10-12, the fourth vision and the key to the entire book, describes the history of Israel from Daniel's day until the Messianic Kingdom. Mostly, it describes the wars between the main successor states of the Greek Empire, namely the Seleucid "king of the north" in Syria and the Ptolemaic "king of the south" in Egypt, culminating in the career of Antiochus Epiphanes and the Maccabean War. However, from Daniel 11:40 until the end of the book, the prophecy's description of the fate of Antiochus at the end of the world deviates seriously from real history.

It seems that everything "Daniel" predicted prior to 167 BC "happened" and everything he predicted after 167 BC did not. This suggests that it was written in 167 BC in the midst of the Maccabaean revolt against the Seleucid empire.

I did not offer you an exegesis of The 70 weeks of Daniel, and it seems Mystic got what he was looking for, so why bother? If you really want to know google it.

Drich, I'm never satisfied to listening to one side of the issue. I want to hear the Christian side as well.

We can go into as much or as little detail as you want, but I am going to start with this sumation. Daniel gives a total of 70 weeks of end time prophecy that trigger the end of man's reign. 35 weeks have aready taken place, and 35 weeks still remain. Those are the weeks/prophocies that minnie says havn't come true.. yet. they conside with the account found in the book of revelations.

If you want to go deeper i will have to read and catch up on all of this stuff again. (this time tomorrow hopefully)
