hipster Atheist

RE: hipster Atheist
Also, not every atheist is a part of this 'atheist community.' I'm an atheist and I'm not part of it. Sounds horrible - to have a group think and talk on your behalf.

Think? Nah dude, sources or it didn't happen.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

No i don't think hipsters would put enough time in to studying religion to become atheists, i do notice most atheists are geeks, freaks and weirdos which are exactly the type of people i love anyway and i consider myself to be like that too.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

I was just having some fun with tea-EGH and his christian hipster thread. I wasn't trying to one up him. I wa trying to illustrate a point. That point being D-bags will be D-bags no matter what and will find a way to incorperate what they believe (Which ever side of the fence they stand on) into there d-bagginess.

Here you are, gossiping about these people behind their back while they have the times of their lives being hipster atheists and gawking at you dumbfuck theists. Concerning yourself with their instagram photo shit. Get a life, bro. Who is the sad cunt, again?

By the way, hipsters don't exist.

""Hipster" is a term co-opted for use as a meaningless pejorative in order to vaguely call someone else's authenticity into question and, by extension, claim authenticity for yourself.

It serves no conversational function and imparts no information, save for indicating the opinions and preferences of the speaker.

Meanwhile, a market myth has sprung up around the term, as well as a cultural bogeyman consisting of elusive white 20-somethings who wear certain clothes (but no one will agree on what), listen to certain music (no one can agree on this either), and act a certain way (you've probably sensed the pattern on your own).

You can't define what "that kind of behavior or fashion or lifestyle" actually is, nor will you ever be able to. That's because you don't use "hipster" to describe an actual group of people, but to describe a fictional stereotype that is an outlet for literally anything that annoys you.

The twist, of course, is that if it weren't for your own insecurities, nothing that a "hipster" could do or wear would ever affect you emotionally. But you are insecure about your own authenticity - "Do I wear what I wear because I want to? Do I listen to my music because I truly like it? I'm certainly not like those filthy hipsters!" - so you project those feelings.

Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, "ironic" Them.

tl;dr: if you believe hipsters exist, you are a dumbass."

You are a hipster.

Your ignorance is glowing off of the screen.

So on the one hand, every christian that does something to embarrass the religion or is a hypocrite is obviously not a true christian.

On the other, every atheist who believes in something you feel is wrong is absolutely, bindingly, one hundred percent representative of the atheist community. Double standard, much?

Oh, and Drich? Come on, man. I would have thought you would have matured past this kind of petty one upping when you turned ten. Grow up.

When did I say it was 100%? Of course it is not 100%. It is probably 30-40 percent of the atheist movement is the left, the radical university professors, the left wing music and arts community. Maybe it is 60%.

Don't you care that your culture is deeply shaped by political conflicts? Atheism is not the absence of belief, atheism is culture war.

Atheism is culture war, what the fuck? Is theism culture war too? God damn, you must be American - making everything into a war. And if you're not, come on over.

Yes, theism is definatley a culture war. But theism has thousands of years of experience with culture war. Atheists who are 18 years old or 25 do not. I think a lot of them are suckered into a political movement that they don't really understand, despite how many books by Richard Dawkins they feel they have read.

Life is war, all societies have wars. I think America has too many of them. I am on this board to do spiritual warfare, I am not posting because I am interested in atheism. I am not anything in myself, but my ideas don't come from myself, they come from God. The same cannot be said about a 27 year old "ethicist" who creates his own "ethical system" that tells him how to live, and creates his own theology out of pure reason. That is a totally different thing. But there is culture war involved in that, it is not just the 27 year old, it is many different social and political movements that want to lead people different ways to suit their own ends.

This is the way that the world works. To what you submit your mind to obey, to that thing you are its slave.
