Although their behaviour is horrible, it may not be entirely their fault. They are clear examples of religious childhood indoctrination. Remember its never anyones fault what their belief is as you cannot choose what to believe. I hope you are not too close to your parents because religious people are very intolerant of atheists but atheists are very tolerant of religious people. I suggest that if you can and if they won't burn or throw away them immediately, buy some Richard Dawkins books and the origin of species by Charles Darwin. This may actually raise their consciousness. You could convince them by saying that you shouldn't disregard something that you don't understand (i'm guessing they don't understand evolution or science at all)
