No offense, Germans, because true to my bad forum taste, I like you and all, but I think #3 would solve most of the problems.
We're people on the internet. None of us have political power beyond voting. None of us create policy. For some reason, you and a few other past members seemed to think it was necessary to shout down those who didn't have the same views, as if any of us were writing laws and regulations. We're just other schmucks like you, and no matter what the topic is (religion, racism, politics, etc) it's not worth getting up in arms about.
I give you allowances on some spelling mistakes and some word usage mistakes because I personally think that you do a much better job talking to us in English than at least the American speakers would if trying to keep a grip on German forums. HOWEVER - communication hinges on being able to express yourself in the best way possible, and you can't do this if you are 1) angry and 2) making stupid mistakes I know you're capable of correcting if you weren't angry and acting like it didn't matter. It's all well and good to ask Tiberius for further clarification of his points. Making assumptions might even be acceptable - working yourself into a lather over them when you don't even know if they're true, however, isn't. It's fucking stupid. You should be happy he DOES clarify things - many of our own resident theists don't do as much when asked more or less politely.
It's an internet forum. Not real life. We're just a bunch of schmucks talking things out. This isn't worth anything more than the kvetching you'd do around a pub table. Calm the fuck down.
Meanwhile I read through 8 pages of political bullshit just to get to this point and I want that time back. Jesus.

I liked RevJ too before he went insane. I even spent some hours on a Google Hang Out with him trying to piece together what his insanity was, and best I can tell he was taking out his personal frustrations on Tib. I hope that's not what Germans is doing, because it's utterly stupid to strawman up a practical stranger and try to eviscerate them in an effort to deal with your own personal problems.

I skimmed so many posts that I slipped and banged my knee.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

This thread is an eight and a half page essay on precisely why I hate discussing politics amongst friends. As someone old enough to have experienced Thatcher's Britain firsthand, I have my own opinions of the woman and her legacy that haunts us even to this day. Indeed, it has been said that it would have been far better if Thatcher had lived and Thatcherism died long ago. And that is all I have to say on the subject.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

PS - I also think it's crass to say "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead". Maybe I don't know enough about the British voting system, but seems to me that you'd have to blame a good portion of the voting public for putting such a person up there (and thus not just the figurehead), much as I blame a good deal of America for Bush/Cheney and notice that just as many realized their mistake and put a black democrat in office right afterwards.

We make allowances here if people can demonstrate that they can speak / write in understandable English sentences, but TGAC often demonstrates the opposite. His English is far from poor, but it's also far from perfect (or even very good).

Exactly, and the fact is, she was elected to the position 3 times and served almost 3 terms; the longest serving Prime Minister of the 20th century (and to this day). Not only that, but her party (the one that provided most of the votes for "her" policies) won a 4th election in a row after she was forced out.

I really think a lot of that is the anger making him mix things up. You don't have to speak perfectly to make yourself understood if you are careful and, as my other German friend Ungodlyfossil would say, "If you give more than two fucks." His English is spectacular precisely because he forces himself to be on foreign language forums to put himself out of his element and so he can read the colloquial usages. It's the same reason espressofrog sent me many silly French youtubes and comics - so I would get a feel for how the informal language actually flows.
Actively showing you are trying just fine, even if you make mistakes. Acting like a dick when someone says "I don't understand you, can you please rephrase" is bullshit even when you speak the same language. There are plenty of English speakers on this forum who say shit I don't understand, and I'll have everyone know that I was fucking ace in Literature/English and Communications classes.

It's my belief that people kept Bush in because they were scared stupid, and Kerry didn't provide any sense of comfort or inspire any belief. If Britain didn't produce a leader in an opposite party during that time and people felt she was the safest bet...well, WTF are you going to do? I get pissed at Democrats for being fucking wet blankets and rolling over to Republicans all the time - for making Liberal seem like a dirty, wimpy, weak thing to be, and even more pissed when then liberals and/or Democrats cry about the way things are going. Fucking man up.
