Oh what the hell, why not lose a few more 'friends'?

For the record I also regret that this forum manages to drive off most of the interesting theists as well as some pretty interesting atheists. I don't think it should be necessary to select for the bottom of the barrel in order to maintain a low opinion of theists.

Now I'm not saying anyone should behave or act or be any particular way or come here for any particular reason. I'm not an objective moralist so I've got no should for you. It's just that I'm asshole-intolerant and the only side I'm on is my own.

I only have room for the few friends who I actually like and who know and can deal with who I really am. So here is some more about who I am so that anyone who was mistakenly my buddy can sort themselves out. Not interested in flying under the radar here. I'm pro-civility and not a theist-hater so watch out for me. Kind of scary, aren't I?

I'm not going anywhere. So you can all just deal with me any way you like and of course the reverse is true.

I've noticed many forums that don't have strictly enforced politeness tend to have a few barking dogs that have a go at newcomers who don't fit the deomographic of the majority of members. Like most barking dogs, they tend to leave off if the newcomer doesn't show fear.

There was one very recently who didn't think the bible was special, rejected creationism, embraced evolution and -I think- was agnostic as well but called himself a Christian. That is someone I would call an interesting Christian.

Now we have a former Muslim who is now an atheist with an interestingly different background and perspective. Couldn't you just tell him you're not here for that when complains about the tenor of response. Lets face it, it does get more than a little lord-of-the-flies around here and that isn't always novel or amusing.

Yeah, maybe I should send advice to the ones I like early on.

Frankly I like the edginess of the not-so-tightly enforced politeness. I wouldn't like phony. Maybe I should just speak up more for my favorites.

Love, if that's who you're talking about, is still around. I recently exchanged PM's with him. The tone of the conversation changed after we decided what playing field we were going to have to meet on.

No, I personally think some people are fucking over-sensitive. Also, if you're referring to my responses to lordxenu, I stated that I used to be like him and told him why I changed. If he's antagonized by THAT, then he needs to figure out if he should be in big boy panties or in Pampers. The tone for the most part on this thread hardly merited anyone being chased out. If they were, I say again that they need help with confrontation issues. As well, if you state an opinion, you are going to have to deal with it being picked apart. That's life, dude. I'm not fond of this "let's be nicey-nice to everyone's idea" attitude. Some ideas are complete shite.
