The ''Illogicality'' of Prayer.

Okay, so EVEN IF YOU BELIEVE if your daughter or son marries an atheist, God just cuts you down. Where's his forgiveness all of a sudden? And lets pick this apart. ''Giving'' your daughters or ''taking'' their daughters? They are human beings not objects. A daughter has her own mind and can choose whomsoever to marry, the idea it's up to the parents to make this life changing decision is simply ludicrous. How on EARTH can anybody trust this book?

Have you ever been outside the walls you live in, serious dude, go to India and many of the countries in that area of the world, prearranged marriages happen all the time. Families in India are aborting female babies by the millions, because they can not afford the dowry it takes to marry their daughters. Guess what they do not trust the Bible.
You think forgiveness is automatic with God, yet do not expect it from your fellow man. If someone commits a wrong against you, don't you want an apology or are you not human. The NT says Christians should not marry another who is not a Christians, it's not a sin to do so, the statement was given to keep hardship down in the marriage and protect the Christians belief.
You do not understand the reasons God gave commandments, nor the meaning behind these commandments, please get your facts straight before making a statement.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I know it happens all the time that's what I am saying. It is WRONG. and you get You're facts right first. That fact being that God doesn't even exist so your arguments are completely useless anyway. And the Kuran is exactly the same as the bible, I suggest you read it as I have done. Both say the same things, both are wrong. God does NOT exist because it is completely stupid to ever believe that a huge ghost lives in the sky, or some unknowable force that can be known only by his followers. it's complete nonsense and anyone who can possibly believe that utter garbage needs their head checking. it's stupid to even think there is a possibility of it actually being true. It's just stupid.

And whats more are you saying God 'destroys' you know for just not doing what he says even though it's not actually a sin? You're an idiot. How is it Christians are so bad at reading? And what's more... God didn't give commandments, man did. Man made up a load of rubbish about seeing god just so the people would follow the rules. Ruling by fear is a dictatorship anyway. before you say anything about that, frightening someone with hell is the same thing. and is 'Frederick neitzsche is dead' God CELEBRATING a death? He must certainly be a complete and utter fucker then. a complete and utter fucker. and actually, I have forgiven people without apology before. don't you dare tell me what I do and don't expect. I don't expect however, you to have an IQ above 40.

For me, The biggest Biblical contradiction is this:

''Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me''
Exodus 20:4-5

I am a jealous god? Isn't that one of the seven deadly sins? Oh dear me. And even worse... He's not going to punish the person who dislikes him... but his Children, and his children's children? Without trail? Oh, so much mercy God... How merciful you really are.

You are kinda touchy there my friend, calm down. Christians marrying outside there belief is not a sin, it's just not the best situation for either partner. If you're going to make a positive statement, like God doesn't exist you need to bring the evidence.

Bear1 Wrote:And the Kuran is exactly the same as the bible, I suggest you read it as I have done. Both say the same things, both are wrong. You can't be serious the Koran isn't like the Bible, if you believe the Bible's wrong prove it, it's your claim. You also claim God does not exist, so again bring the proof. As for what you think about me, I don't care so rattle on if you need to, it doesn't get you anywhere, but go on.

Bear1 Wrote:And whats more are you saying God 'destroys' you know for just not doing what he says even though it's not actually a sin?

God does not destroy man does, (Boston) and I did not say He destroys you did. God does not punish people for not sinning.

Bear1 Wrote:You're an idiot. How is it Christians are so bad at reading? And what's more... God didn't give commandments, man did. Maybe I am an idiot, what does that have to do with God being just. You seem to be a very confused person, why can't you make up your mind as to who gave the commandments.
I'm not afraid of hell, and if you are then why do you not do something about your situation.

Bear1 Wrote:and is 'Frederick neitzsche is dead' God CELEBRATING a death? Yes, Nietzsche is dead, been dead, and no God does not celebrate a curse man brought upon himself. God says it is His desire that no man perish, man chooses what happens to his self. You have forgiven all people who have wronged you without an apology, then you're a better person than the rest of us. What's my IQ have to do with anything, I have a greater understanding of scripture than you do, I would explain but with my low IQ I doubt I could reach to your level.

It's about not rejecting his governance and relying on one's self as authority.

Ergo my first statement that prayer is useless (i.e. you said we have to do something OURSELVES and even pointed out WHY prayer is useless. Ergo it's US that make a difference and God does nothing when we ask for anything.

Why you would even want to talk to a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, murderous, jealous, hateful, vengeful ghost is beyond me anyway.

May I remind you, Tex, of 2 Thessalonians 3:6: ''Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.''

Looks like God will have a few things to say about you :/ I hope you've got your repenting hat on. So God is telling you who you should and shouldn't talk to? Hm, weird book to base your morality on.

And let's have a look also, while we're on the subject at my least favourite bit of the bible, Deuteronomy. To be exact: Deut 7:3-4 which is as follows: ''You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. The large majority of this is one big red herring. None of this is the subject on which I'm speaking, nor is it correct, for that matter. If you would like to make a new thread on biblical exegesis I would be happy to contribute. Now, about what you actually said about prayer:

You're assuming that the external is the only problem. We're called to do, yes, but just doing is meaningless if not done properly. Lets say I hold the door open while my university evacuates from a bomb threat. If I do this so that everyone praises me, I haven't done the deed properly. Sure, the result is the same, but intention is important. These inward dispositions for selfishness or the like also must be purged.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

have you people even read the bible? Of course it's wrong. and as for proof, where is your proof that God does exist? it works both ways.

God did not create the world in seven days (or six) there was no Noah flood, homosexuality is not wrong, we should treat our women with respect and as equals, and before you say anything about those it actually SAYS THOSE THINGS IN THE BIBLE. It actually says 'put a man to death who works on a sunday' it actually says 'god will destroy those who are against him' 'execute gays' 'execute unruly children who disrespect their parents' it's the goriest book I have EVER read. If you are not following those rules which, as it clearly states 'ARE THE WORD OF THE LORD' then my friend, you are not a Christian. And I have read the Qu'ran, and the Tibetan book of the dead. Trust me, the Qu'ran is EXACTLY the same. It even talks about Jesus. And I did not say god destroys. THE FUCKING BIBLE DID. Jesus Christ, that was a fucking quote from 2 Thessalonians. How can you have a greater understanding of scripture when you quite obviously haven't even read the damn thing? How can you possibly swallow that garbage, if you wanna go around believing that a god actually exists in this day and age then there is something seriously wrong with society. Seriously, seriously wrong.

I think your reading of the bible is seriously, seriously wrong too. Perhaps you should change it?

Unsupported assertions piled on top of non sequiters, topped off with insults and sprinkled with swear words. Why should we take anything you say seriously?

The real question is how much of the Bible have you studied, my vote would be none. The scriptures teach that man should love his wife as Christ loves His church, since I believe you haven't studied scripture I know you can not understand this. The scriptures do not call for executing unruly children, again I know you could not possibly understand this. Who are you to tell others they do not know how to follow Christ. You sir need to seriously, seriously learn to control you temper.

To sum, God wants you to do all the work and give him all the credit.

Godschild Wrote:The scriptures do not call for executing unruly children, again I know you could not possibly understand this.

Godschild, are you pathologically incapable of not being full of shit? I mean seriously. And you have the balls to tell anyone they have never read the Bible.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21

18 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard." 21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

As for loving your wife as Jesus loves his church, that is accurate. Your wife should be a mindlessly obedient and inferior supplicant, like you are to Jesus.
