RE: Question About Heaven
June 7, 2013 at 9:21 am
I think I'd eventually get bored in Heaven. Eternity is a long time, and after you've spoken to every single person who ever existed on Earth and heard every story ever told for the 100th time, boredom would set in in a major way.
And if Heaven consists of having to kiss God's ass for eternity, I'd hate it.

I have wondered about this as well. Would I be happier if I were religious? Usually at this thought I become happy that I am able to see the falsity in religion, and feel sorry for others that do not. I enjoy my deeper understanding, and feel it betters me as a person.
I am aware of the stories of people who 'turn to God' and then feel better about life, but I know highly religious people that have undergone low depression, and realize that religion does not = happiness. I think someone who is highly rational trying to undergo this kind of transformation would probably be worse off in the end, since he would be trying to be someone he isn't, showing his discomfort with his self.

It is important that religion does not = happiness. Happiness is found in between your own two ears. While the idea of never seeing your loved ones again can be sad, there isn't anything to see. It's not like they are sitting there are you aren't. They are nonexistent and you will be too. When my great-grandma died, it was awful. My grandmother a super christian was all happy at the thought that she was in heaven. I was happy with the thought that she was dead. She had a horrible suffocating death; it took months. When most people exit this world by an age complication, just nothing is peaceful. (my personal philosophy)

Now that's a version of heaven I can get behind. Get it?

Being religious will never make one happy, practicing rituals is nothing more than games with the word spiritual tacked to it. If one does not learn to live in a relationship with God, one will always be disappointed in their spiritual life and probably depressed also. When the Holy Spirit is working with someone He is offering a chance to know God through Christ, when one ignores this chance it can be a very miserable time in one's life, the Holy Spirit is offering love that surpasses understanding, my suggestion is to try it if it's not for you you can always walk away.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
