You know what really sucks? The nurses can't tell you shit, and the docs seem to never be around.
I realize the former is a matter of policy, but it sucks to be in the dark.

Sad, sad me.
Sorry, Cthulhu. My grandmother passed from congestive heart failure the night after I turned 20. Worst birthday ever.

Things may be looking up. Dad seems to be feeling a little better today and actually ate something. I'm exhausted, the hospital is a hundred miles from my house, and almost as far from his. Haven't left the hospital since Tuesday.

Yikes, that's a hell of a walk. Actually, it sort of reminds me of the time in 2001, at the height of a scorching Summer, when my Princess was rushed to hospital for the first time because of her fits and ended up staying in for a fortnight. Luckily the hospital is only a couple of miles away but it's still over an hour's walk. I used to visit her twice daily, then inbetween times I'd rush back home for a very quick bite to eat before rushing back for the next visit. I very nearly killed myself in all that heat but I never missed a visit.
So glad to hear things are more positive right now. Everything it's possible for me to cross I've got crossed for you. If you can, please take a tip from my little anecdote up there and take a bit of time for yourself. You deserve it, mate.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Thanks, Stimbo.
Now that it appears that the period of major uncertainty has passed, I may go home for a day or so.

I'm sorry everybody else is suffering with family members. My grandparents are mid-80's. Doing OK, but I need to give them a call.
As for me, I have been sleeping all afternoon! Not sure if its the sudafed or the nasal spray, but I'll be happy t get off of both. I feel like an alien.

So much for rest. Five minutes from home, I get the call that Dad has taken a turn for the worse and is being transferred to ICU. Fluid in the lungs making it difficult to breath.
So it's back I go. I wish I hadn't left.
