Where Are the Existentialists?

RE: Where Are the Existentialists?
Besides the fact that I've never heard a solid definition of what an existentialist actual entails, I don't really concern myself with labels. I kind of have a shoot from the hip philosophy about life, and I don't really concern myself with categories and what previous people's takes on philosophy are. I find it interesting, however, to read about them, because it helps me refine my own philosophies.

ETA: Good to see you back Chad. I'd thought you'd abandoned us.

This too. Labels suck, and given that they're often going to be interpreted as the listener wishes, they're largely useless.

If you're interested in what someone thinks - ask. Don't ask them what they are. Few people fit into such neat boxes.

^This. I have no idea what I am. Quite frankly, I find philosophy a bunch of mental wanking at best, and no one's ever been able to give me a cohesive and concise run down of ANY philosophy. I'd like to hear them, out of curiosity. Other than that, I guess the only thing I cling to at all is the humanist creed, and I don't even know if that's considered a philosophy at all.

How ironic.

Thus proving their angst justified?

Big Grin

So it would seem.
