People shopping peacefully doesn't really strike an emotional cord.

People attacking consumers and destroying shops, is a lot more powerful considering that is what the government is in progress of doing right now.

The parallels between the consumer and zombies is quite clear. We simply go through the motions of consumption, often caring far more about what we buy than anything else. Consumerism makes a society mindless creatures focused on want rather than need. As for the mall in Dawn of the Dead itself as a metaphor, well, it seems to me to be a symbol of society's preoccupation with material goods. Trust me, I know a lot about this film since it is my favourite of all time. Tongue

You evidently watch and consume cartoons... You don't need that do you?

You are right, I don't need it... I want it. I am part of the problem too, I am just not blind to it. I am very much aware of how ridiculous we humans are. Being able to sit and laugh at not only the world, but yourself makes living quite an enjoyable experience.

Zombies are a subconscious exploration of death and dying. People who are dying are often living in constant pain, as zombies are (the best example of this being made plain is in Return of the Living Dead, 1985). We are frightened of death and dying, so we allow others to deal with it - hospitals take care of the dying, funeral homes take care of the dead, and it's all pretty much out of sight and out of mind. Zombies force us to confront death and dying, and give the dead a chance to strike back.

Zombies can be a metaphor for almost any part of human life really... and that's why I love 'em. Wink

I've always seen zombies as a metaphor for people that just coast through life without actually experiencing it fully.

Woah, what's with all the hate on World War Z? I never read the book, but I think WWZ is the third best zombie film I have ever seen (behind the original Night of the Living Dead and Snyder's Dawn of the Dead)

It gets a lot of hate for it having only the name in common with the book. It is one of my favourite books, so you can imagine the pain when they make something like that. Tongue

So you are asking people to follow what you say, but not follow what you do?
