You've got a point, but I think that the cat should have been scared just by looking at the size of that creature compared to its own, and there were two of them!

A cat's reactions are so much faster. It went in kind of cautious the first time. It was probably gauging the gator's speed. I suspect it could have lept out of the way in plenty of time and the cat thoroughly enjoyed the whole encounter.

I had a cat as a kid that would kill Cottonmouth snakes. If any would have bitten him he would've been dead. But he'd go after them all the time. I'd watch him jumping up high to avoid strikes from 3-4 foot long Cottonmouths frequently. But he wouldn't quit until he killed it.

He died of feline leukemia. They didn't have vaccines for it back then. I cried like a baby.
